read at least one book each month in 2009

I need to amend this to read “read at least a dozen books each year.”

This year, I’ve read (or finished):

Lolita
Pigs in Heaven
Lisey’s Story
Twilight
New Moon
Eclipse

Seems like there’s more, but I can’t recall any others right now. I’m only reading the vampire series because my son insisted. To my surprise, they’ve sucked me in. I am ashamed.

I finished “American Psycho” by Bret Easton Ellis, same author of “Less Than Zero,” which I read almost twenty years ago.

Well, I picked up “Rabbit, Run” again and am probably 2/3 finished. I just don’t know where I put it down last. Hmmm…

Also, I’m nearly through with “American Psycho.” That one is taking time to read because I have to walk away from it and take a break when it gets too overwhelming.

Well, I finished “The Golden Compass” and “The Subtle Knife,” and begun “The Amber Spyglass.” Think I’ll count all three books separately so I can feel caught up, more or less.

Okay…it’s a trilogy. So does it count as three books?

Well, I never did finish “Rabbit, Run.” I have a lot of catching up to do at this point.

So far:

“A Wrinkle in Time” by Madeleine L’Engle
“Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley
“Memoirs of a Geisha” by Arthur Golden

I need three more to catch up. I’ve picked up “Women in Love” by DH Lawrence, so we’ll see how that goes.

My god, this book is boring. Maybe I’m just not far enough in to get caught up in it. I need to pick something more engaging for next month. Any suggestions?
