It was so cool. There was this abandoned house off the side of the road in between these two cotton fields that I went to a couple of times to take pictures for photography projects. I ended up taking enough pictures to do an installation at our end of the year gallery show.
How to photograph an abandoned house
How I did it: I'll tell you how it all happened. My fascination with abandoned places started with this one house back at my grandma's hometown. It was huge, pink-ish in color, and had a palm tree inside.
In my 16 years of life, I don't remember ever seeing anyone there. Nevertheless, I couldn't go inside because of a seriously *insert terrible adjective here* man who lived nearby. A distant relative, actually, who hated my grandparents and would probably shoot me if he saw me around.
Thing is, he died.
And me and my mom walked by the house yesterday, stared at each other, and entered.
Lessons & tips: - Take a flashlight with you, otherwise you'll depend on your camera flash.
and
- Use your hair up. Seriously, there's webs everywhere.
