Karen Today is a good day.

July Wrap Up 4 months ago

Seeing as I just started actively working on my goals a couple days ago… I actually feel good about what I’ve done. It’s amazing how just a little effort can turn around a lot. Actually, a lot of effort. But, I’m grumpy, so I’m hoping to wake up in a better mood in August!

G1: Physical Environment: Simplify, declutter, and clean
Been tidying up a lot the past two days, scrubbed the bathroom, and bought a bunch of pretty baskets that I am going to organize my shelves with!

G2: Spiritual: Positivity, Nonjudgment (for myself and others). Be fearless. Be authentic.
Ummm… not feeling so positive at the moment. Kinda stressed. Need a new job, badly.

G3: Knowledge: Never stop learning.
Been reading Byron Katie’s book Loving What Is… very good

G4: Health/Wellness: Be fit, exercise daily, drink lots of water, be healthy and well nourished.Best progress yet! Eaten 5 fruits and veggies past two days. Exercised the past two days… finally, after two months of inactivity. Drank lots of water, and on weight watchers… keeping track of food for the day. So far, so good!

G5: Abundance: Make money online, and independently. Endless abundance is available to me right now.
Set up a money journal and start writing down ALL spending, bills, and tips/paycheck income, by next day at work (Thurs. July 30th)
< Made a money checklist, like my other one. Keeping track so far.Find a new, good journal that is blank, portable, yet big enough to write down all three areas comfortably. <—-Need to find this, still

G6: Productivity: Wake up early. <- I suck at life.

G7: Inspiration/Creativity: Be continuously inspired. Cultivate creativity.
Do morning pages/affirmations ONCE before next Tuesday. On the computer- write down chosen affirmation/ and Wayne Dyer calendar quote of the day on top of page.<- Did 2/3 pages last night. It’s the morning thing I am having issues with. I don’t do mornings well. Still gonna do once before next Tues.

G8: Hobbies: Practice photography. Write. Discover new music.
Do 365 goal (Take a Picture a day) everyday starting tomorrow, and thru next Tuesday.Doing well!

G9: Mentors & Teachers: Identify and study. Find people that are already successful in the ways I want to be.
Write a list before next Tuesday of ten people I already admire, and ten people I don’t know much about but want to learn more. Find one article about five of the people that I want to learn more about and print them out.<- Haven’t done, yet

Extra credit: Make a daily ideal checklist in Word tomorrow and print up a few copies (Made a good one)

Help! I've fallen and I can't get up. 4 months ago

I’m stuck. I’m in a rut. I was doing sooo good in May (was it?) .. exercising a lot, which gave me more energy. Now, I’ve been doing well by starting my blog and enjoying writing, but I need to get back on track with making progress, or at least recording my efforts. Any efforts. I haven’t been all that active on 43T as a whole, and I always feel better when I am making consistent progress on my goals. I’ve started a box… for change. I’m going to write down one thing I do in the direction of positive change everyday, and put it in the box. It’s inspiring me, so I’m going to write down one mini-goal within this list, for each goal that is SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time Bound._ Also, I’ve restructured my main list to list each of these goals. I’ve wanted to have my BYY goals (here) more in line with my main 43T goals, so I’m getting on track to aligning them. Yay!

On with the mini-goals…

G1: Physical Environment: Simplify, declutter, and clean
Clean and organize the bookcases. Pull everything off and make new systems with categorized areas by Saturday of this week. Clean my bathroom (scrub) by Sat. am, in preparation for Julie’s visit.

G2: Spiritual: Positivity, Nonjudgment (for myself and others). Be fearless. Be authentic.
Write a positive affirmation and post it in 2 prominent locations everyday this week (starting tomorrow).

G3: Knowledge: Never stop learning.
Find and read (and print out) two articles online about cultivating positive changes that last. Take notes/highlight the articles.
Read the foreword and first chapter of The Bell Jar

G4: Health/Wellness: Be fit, exercise daily, drink lots of water, be healthy and well nourished.Ugh. I don’t know why I am avoiding being active so much recently. Why am I putting so much effort into not doing it?!
Exercise three times by the end of Tuesday next week (August 3rd)

G5: Abundance: Make money online, and independently. Endless abundance is available to me right now.
Set up a money journal and start writing down ALL spending, bills, and tips/paycheck income, by next day at work (Thurs. July 30th) Find a new, good journal that is blank, portable, yet big enough to write down all three areas comfortably.

G6: Productivity: Wake up early. (Although I’m hesitant to add this because the focus is on doing, I think it’ is okay to want more productivity, as long as I know it’s not just productivity as the ultimate goal)
Write down under big goal on list the time I get up every.day.this.week. If only to be more aware.

G7: Inspiration/Creativity: Be continuously inspired. Cultivate creativity.
Do morning pages/affirmations ONCE before next Tuesday. On the computer- write down chosen affirmation/ and Wayne Dyer calendar quote of the day on top of page.

G8: Hobbies: Practice photography. Write. Discover new music.
Do 365 goal (Take a Picture a day) everyday starting tomorrow, and thru next Tuesday.

G9: Mentors & Teachers: Identify and study. Find people that are already successful in the ways I want to be.
Write a list before next Tuesday of ten people I already admire, and ten people I don’t know much about but want to learn more. Find one article about five of the people that I want to learn more about and print them out.

Extra credit: Make a daily ideal checklist in Word tomorrow and print up a few copies.

Whew… I have a lot of work to do! But feel a bit more on track glad I made a plan as to what is the next, right action to take.

Week of July 26: 4 months ago

A friend of mine was here from out of town, and I spent a lot more time enjoying my time with her than focusing on my goals. It was a really good week; very fun! Anyway, I will try and get focused on this next week, and do a couple more ‘tough stuff’ goals.

1. Become a licensed acupuncturist
This week, I’ll sit down and plan finances for the first board exam. Also, I think it might be a nice time to update my resume, and sign up for focus groups on the ETC jobs on Craigslist.

2. Begin dancing again (get in shape, and go to one dance related event a month)
Gym 1-3 times this week. Look for dance related things to go to this month. Qi gong 1-3x this week.

3. Do what it takes to heal my knee (and other medical problems that may come up).Email Rudy work schedule. Ask coworker dentist’s name. Knee actually feels great right now! Continue the Bupleurum Cleanse, which is a 30 day process.

4. Plan one big trip this year, preferably overseas, and 1-4 short trips.Loan A. my Puerto Rico Lonely Planet. Go to the library and check out some books from the travel section.

5. Begin and end all conversations on a positive note.
Send one note to a friend. Say positive things about people (including myself). Stay close to consistently positive people. Know that I’m a gift and that other people are gifts as well.

6. Clear some financial wreckage, i.e. consolidate student loans, etc. and follow Debtproof living plan.
Keep up with Wesabe. Defer DL student loan. Do one or two feng shui things in the prosperity corner. Tap around finances. (Played ostrich with this a little bit the last pay period! I will check my bank balance, and keep up with it again.)

7. Keep my home clean and beautiful.
Flylady/do routines as soon as I walk in the door.

8. Seek help in finding peace with myself and my family, while staying close to my community.2-3 meetings this week. (Chaired a meeting for the month of July.) Practice EFT. Ask people to pray for me and my family relationships. Finish EFT class

9. Appreciate the opportunity to love, and find a lover who I truly love.
Stay open. Put some money in the new bed fund (feng shui). Check out online possibilities although I feel ambivalent about this.

10. Be on time for work.Leave an extra 15 minutes commute time.Keep up with this.

Guidelines
Do the tough stuff first
Stay close to my community
Have fun!

New Paradigm
With each step I take, I step into the divine flow of life. or clearing the wreckage and freeing my qi, all in the name of Truth and Beauty:)

Major Focus
Acupuncturist

Vision for the week
The world I live in is surrounded by healing, loving energies, and as I go about my life this week, I am loved and healed, and I love and heal others in return.

Week of July 19: 4 months ago

This past week, I focused more on my health issues. I had a weird, stuck sensation in my upper right side, and decided to do a gallbladder flush and it disoriented me for a couple of days. I feel a lot better now. The stuck feeling is gone, and I’m continuing the process with a bupleurum/milk thistle/dandelion combination highly recommended to me by a very knowledgeable person from work. I really like the way I feel now (compared to a few days ago). I did forebear a loan so that’s progess on the financial wreckage goal.

1. Become a licensed acupuncturist
This week, I’ll sit down and plan finances for the first board exam. Also, I think it might be a nice time to update my resume, and sign up for focus groups on the ETC jobs on Craigslist. (A repeat from last week.) (not much progress on this!)

2. Begin dancing again (get in shape, and go to one dance related event a month)
Gym 1-3 times this week. Look for dance related things to go to this month. Qi gong 3x this week. (no progress on this.)

3. Do what it takes to heal my knee (and other medical problems that may come up).
Email Rudy work schedule. Ask coworker dentist’s name. Knee actually feels great right now! Continue the Bupleurum Cleanse, which is a 30 day process. (I feel great! Mellow, and my right sided pain is better.)

4. Plan one big trip this year, preferably overseas, and 1-4 short trips.
Loan A. my Puerto Rico Lonely Planet. Go to the library and check out some books from the travel section. (I keep forgetting to bring the book to work, and I went to the library, but there was a fire alarm!)

5. Begin and end all conversations on a positive note.Send one note to a friend. Say positive things about people (including myself). Stay close to consistently positive people. Know that I’m a gift and that other people are gifts as well. I read in one of my ‘What God Wants You to Know’ emails from the ‘Conversations with God’ guy about revealing to people something good about themselves, and helping them see their own light. I loved that! (Repeat from last week because I like it so much.) (This seemed to be very good this week.)

6. Clear some financial wreckage, i.e. consolidate student loans, etc. and follow Debtproof living plan.
Keep up with Wesabe. Defer DL student loan. Do one or two feng shui things in the prosperity corner. Tap around finances. (no progress.)

7. Keep my home clean and beautiful.Flylady/do routines as soon as I walk in the door. (about 60% which is good.)

8. Seek help in finding peace with myself and my family, while staying close to my community.2-3 meetings this week. Practice EFT. Ask people to pray for me and my family relationships.

9. Appreciate the opportunity to love, and find a lover who I truly love.Stay open. Write to I. Put some money in the new bed fund (feng shui). Continue staying in touch with T. (Despite T.’s leaving, he has been keeping in touch with me daily.) (I. has actually ‘unfriended me on Facebook without a word! Although I know he’s wholly unsuitable for me as a partner, this makes me feel sad because of the time and energy we spent with each other. I never could do the ‘open relationship’ thing. I sort of disappeared when I started corresponding with T.) (T. has disappeared for now. He went to a Yoga training in Santa Fe, and hasn’t been in touch at all. I don’t like this one bit, so I reactivated an old profile I had. I realize that I would like to experiment a bit more with the Date Smarter goal. His silence has shown me how much I like to be ‘courted’. It doesn’t seem like that much trouble to write an email or text that says ‘I’m really busy right now, but just want to say I’m thinking about you’ or whatever.)

10. Be on time for work.Leave an extra 15 minutes commute time.
Keep up with this. (A fear of mine came true this week. I slept through three alarm clocks and went to the 6 am meeting late. This is definitely something very important for me!)

Week of July 12: 4 months ago

Good morning! I feel a bit caffeinated so I may change this later. But I felt like I had a good week of growth and gaining perspective. I realized how much love I have in my life these days. I feel surrounded by supportive and caring friends, lots of laughter and humor! And I’ve enjoyed the tapping. I’m not sure yet if it works to permanently resolve issues, but tapping on the meridians seems to give me a bit of the same kind of buzzy feeling that I get with acupuncture treatments (and it’s cool that it’s without the needles). This week, I would like to focus more on finances and clear some stuff out, and keep up with the other stuff.

1. Become a licensed acupuncturist
This week, I’ll sit down and plan finances for the first board exam. Also, I think it might be a nice time to update my resume, and sign up for focus groups on the ETC jobs on Craigslist. (Let my finances go a bit this week. Playing ostrich a little.)

2. Begin dancing again (get in shape, and go to one dance related event a month)
Gym 1-3 times this week. Look for dance related things to go to this month. Qi gong 3x this week. (Let this go, too.)

3. Do what it takes to heal my knee (and other medical problems that may come up).
Email Rudy work schedule. Ask coworker dentist’s name. Wednesday: Dr.’s appt., optical appt. I realize, too, that I can tap around knee pain and any other health issue that comes up. (I canceled dr.’s appt. due to time of month issues. Rescheduled for two weeks from now. Did a liver flush, and taking Bupleurum Liver Cleanse from Planetary Herbals, because I was feeling almost like a was having a Gallbladder attack. I feel much better!)

4. Plan one big trip this year, preferably overseas, and 1-4 short trips.Be open to travel possibilities, up north? Massachusetts? LA?

5. Begin and end all conversations on a positive note.
Also send one note to a friend.

6. Clear some financial wreckage, i.e. consolidate student loans, etc. and follow Debtproof living plan.
Keep up with Wesabe. Defer Wachovia loan. Have two more to go. Do one or two feng shui things in the prosperity corner.

7. Keep my home clean and beautiful.
Flylady/do routines as soon as I walk in the door. (Let this go a bit, too. Cleaned my house both weekends, though.)

8. Seek help in finding peace with myself and my family, while staying close to my community.
2-3 meetings this week. Practice EFT. (One glorious meeting. These are so wonderful and important.)

9. Appreciate the opportunity to love, and find a lover who I truly love.Stay open. Write to I. Put some money in the new bed fund (feng shui). Continue staying in touch with T. (Despite T.’s leaving, he has been keeping in touch with me daily.) (Met with T. yesterday. He drove back from Michigan and we met for dinner last night. He left for a yoga retreat today.)

10. Be on time for work.Leave an extra 15 minutes commute time.Keep up with this. (Overslept a couple of times this week after the liver flush, but I think I’m back to normal now.)

Week of July 5: 4 months ago

This was a challenging week for me. There was a weird incident at work that got ‘resolved’ but I wasn’t that happy with it. Very long story, but it made me realize that I work in a grocery store, and really should get on with my career. Also, I dated a new person and then found out he would very likely not be around very much, hence I would end up in another long distance relationship. So, it was a bit nerve-wracking. And what was a fun week, feeling hopeful about potential new love, transformed into ‘oh, really?!’ Anyway, like Rumi says, ‘A night full of talking that hurts, my worst held-back secrets. Everything has to do with loving and not loving. This night will pass. Then we have work to do.’

1. Become a licensed acupuncturist
This week, I’ll sit down and plan finances for the first board exam. Also, I think it might be a nice time to update my resume, and sign up for focus groups on the ETC jobs on Craigslist. Money is a big issue, and after what happened at work, I really need to earn more. (Did the ETC jobs, and that’s about it.)

2. Begin dancing again (get in shape, and go to one dance related event a month)
Gym 1-3 times this week. Look for dance related things to go to this month. Qi gong (almost) every day this week. (Qi gong a couple of times. Tapping takes awhile, so to address time management, I may need to just limit this to 2-3 times a week.)

3. Do what it takes to heal my knee (and other medical problems that may come up).
Email Rudy work schedule. Ask coworker dentist’s name. (nope.)

4. Plan one big trip this year, preferably overseas, and 1-4 short trips.Let this rest this week.

5. Begin and end all conversations on a positive note.
Also send one note to a friend. Say positive things about people (including myself). Stay close to consistently positive people. Know that I’m a gift and that other people are gifts as well.

6. Clear some financial wreckage, i.e. consolidate student loans, etc. and follow Debtproof living plan.

7. Keep my home clean and beautiful.
Flylady/do routines as soon as I walk in the door. (No!)

8. Seek help in finding peace with myself and my family, while staying close to my community.
2-3 meetings this week. (Only could get to one.) Therapist appt. Practice EFT.

9. Appreciate the opportunity to love, and find a lover who I truly love.Stay open. Write to I. Put some money in the new bed fund (feng shui). Stay in touch with T. Be honest and open with how I feel.

10. Be on time for work.Leave an extra 15 minutes commute time.Keep up with this.

Best July Ever 5 months ago

01. Spend some quality time with your cousins. Get to know them.
A complete success. Really spent some Q time with my cousins. They have a great small town life with close friends and family. Made me think about my move to Portland for a city life amongst strangers.

02. Have a picnic at Wallace Park or Rose Gardens some evening.
I made S an wonderful Italian dinner last week. This counts. =)

03. Road Trip to Seattle on July 11th.
This trip was an eye opener. Seattle is not the city I had once envisioned moving to. I really think Portland is here to stay. But it was a fun trip with SA.

04. Go to the International Beer Festival.
Done. Slightly over-rated, but fun.

05. Take sunset pictures at Vista House.
Went after work on 7/9. It was a hazy day, too much sun too. But I got to experiment with a classmates 70-300mm lens, which was a great experience. The Columbia River Gorge is a special place.

06. Start a photo blog or photo website. Something. Anything.
Confidence fail.

07. Gym 10x.
7/8. 7/13. 7/14. 7/17. 7/20.

08. Run/Frisbee 10x.
7/8. 7/10. 7/15. 7/17. 7/19. 7/22.

09. Buy a photo bag.
Not sure if this is a priority right now.
