Joining a gym can be a bit intimidating for someone who hasn’t been trying to keep in shape for a long time. You walk in and don’t know where to start, how to keep up and of course you’ll feel insecure lifting only a third of what the more experienced guys are lifting. It’ll be hard to keep up your motivation.
That’s why I’ll be taking another approach to getting started to get fit: body-weight exercises at home. Think of push-ups, burpees and such. You can slowly advance to more complex body-weight exercises and go even further by slowly adding weights to them. Do this for a month or two and you’ll be ready to hit the gym with confidence. 4 weeks ago

I feel this goal is not specific enough. It’s pretty easy to call “regularly” a lot of things and I need specific otherwise I won’t get off my butt and do it. 1 month ago

Did the work out tonight, with my sister in law… but didn’t make it to 15,000 steps. I will make it to 10,000 steps. so, I’m closer than I could be. I think I will consider day one a success. 5 months ago

My goal for today is to walk 15,000 steps (that’s only 7.5 miles), and do a body rock for 12 minutes before bed or right when I get home if my husband is late. Oh and see if I can get 30 flights in. That one will be difficult, because I don’t have stairs and the stairs at work someone is at the top of and they probably would notice if I kept popping my head up, but I’m going to try anyhow. 5 months ago

To change my work out three times a week goal to work out regularly… because I think three times a week is too specific. I can get more specific once I actually start working out regularly! Until then, I don’t think I need a number in mind to call myself a failure if I don’t meet that number, or to give me a reason not to work out more in a week if I do meet that number but find time otherwise. 5 months ago

I’m so good at talking myself out of working out, lol. It’s been months. Almost did it again today…but sucked it up and did it. Glad I did, feel great. 50 minutes cardio, 20 strength training. Was fine with the cardio, but man…the strength training about did me in. I’m definitely not in good shape, lol. But it’s a start at least. 6 months ago
