How to be in a rock band"Show your talent, be open minded to the musicians around you, click, jam, and boom."
How I did it: Started off singing karaoke and entering local talent contests, tried out for american idol (Which I was just on TV the other day. Season 8, Kansas City, the dancing fairy. That was me) twice. Made the local paper 12 times for good things. Just promoted the hell out of myself and my talent. People started to notice and take interest, after that I met people, and the offers started happening. Resources: My band is having our 3rd gig coming up on Valentines Day. And we just recorded our first Demo. Listen Send feedback http://www.myspace.com/bombshelliowa |

How I did it: My parents are to blame. They started me in guitar lessons at age six and it progressed from there. I practiced daily until I was a teenager; I'm a singer, but I accompany myself on guitar. Throughout school, I sang in choir and played in the high school band. There are two times I feel truly free – when I’m dancing salsa and when I’m fronting a rock band. I refuse to allow my schedule to stop me. I pray the right people will come my way so we can form a synergistic band to play music that will heal people.
I have left the band because of musical differences. No, that’s not it: I have left the band because of lyrical differences. We had a major, major row when I categorically refused to play any song rhyming the words “looker”, “hooker” and “cooker”. Perhaps I slightly overdid the excoriating disdain.
I don’t often say this but I deserve better. And I’m keeping their riff. Bastards.
Every word of this is true, I swear
offering me a place in what will be, despite their protestations to the contrary, a pub band. The thing is: the guy I’m replacing came up with one of the best riffs (in one of my favourite songs) of the 70s. That riff, that song, is in the new repertoire. I’ve been listening to a CD they made a decade or so ago and it’s horrid. And don’t start me on the lyrics!
It’ll be the worst kind of dispiriting geezer rock and I shall be the worst kind of wannabe, following a hero from my teens; playing licks from 35 years ago.
I really miss playing in public, though. And then: that riff.

the name sorted, and even got a groupie. Now all I need are some talented band members. Maybe I should learn to sing or play an instrument too.
I want to be in a rock band with my friends, (and first I just need to keep practicing), but its hard to schedule practice dates with the band..input would be great though
I really want to be in a rock band, but first I have to learn how to play electric guitar well!!!
The problem is – nobody around me wants to start a band!!! Huhh… =(
