How I did it: I pierced it myself as I have done before with my bottom lips. It took awhile for me to fully get everything into place. Maybe 45 minutes. Which caused it to be very painful. I did it 2 days ago and needless to say my lips is still swollen. I've been brushing my teeth more throughout the day and mixing mouthwash and water and cleaning the inside and doing the same with the outside. And I've been taking ibuprofen to reduce swelling and any pain. I'm still waiting on my swelling to go down. From what I've researched it can take up to 1 week to get the swelling to go down. Hopefully mine does not take that long. My picture posted is right after I did it before the swelling so I know mine will look wonderful! Read how I did it… 1 month ago

Quick and easy piercing to get done. I am still dealing with a little bit of swelling and I can’t tell if the piercing is right for my mouth yet because the post is rubbing against my gums/teeth… but that might just be because it was pierced with an extremely long bar for the swelling.

How I did it: (Yes, I know, it was a lot of time ago, but I didn't have the chance to log in and write something about it.)
So I went to the piercing shop and I asked for a 2mm medusa piercing. Unfortunately, they hadn't such a gauge, so I had a 1,6mm stud with a bioplast labret stud.
It hurt a bit, more than I expected (and my piercer told me that this kind of piercing really hurts!) and the swelling lasted for more than a week, but it was totally worth it!
After a month I went back there to have the jewellery changed with a 1,2mm titanium labret stud. I never had any problem with it. Read how I did it… 21 months ago

How I did it: It was a spare of the moment thing, was at a body piercers so my mans daughter could get her belly done and I just mentioned I have always wanted to get a medusa and the BP said why not get it now? And well, I got it done. Read how I did it… 22 months ago

I thought about it before getting it done, not really a spur of the moment thing but turned out to be too much trouble than what it was worth. Now I’ve taken it out it’s left a HORRIBLE scar right smack bang in the middle of my face. You probably just think “I’ll never take it out, so it doesn’t matter about the scar” but you will eventually, and the longer you leave it – the worse the scarring is going to be. It also leaves a horrible lump inside your mouth when you get it pierced known as the scar tissue – nobody told me about that so now I’m left with a horrible scar and a gross lump. I’ve learnt my lesson from being a silly teenager and now I’ve to be reminded of it for the rest of my life with a mark on my face for everyone to see. 23 months ago

I had been seeing more and more pictures of girl with medusa piercing’s and their septum. I am still trying to find just the right jewelry to fit my septum, and was unsure if I would like it or not. I LOVE IT!!! LOoks great together, i think. Cant wait until I can change the jewelry.
As far as pain goes, it really wasn’t bad at all. The pressure of the needle going through my lip was uncomfortable but nothing that was unbearable for a few seconds. I didn’t bleed. The extra length on the bar does make it a bit hard to eat. it is still slightly sore today, but normal i would say for a fresh piercing. Over the weekend I don’t think i rinsed my mouth as much as I should have. and maybe should have been a bit more careful on my selection of foods ect. I am going to drink a lot more water this week, and make sure I am rinsing enough. 2 years ago
