i really should just get it; i want it and i’ve wanted it for a while now, and i think it’ll suit my face a lot. I’m not not scared of the pain, I’m just sick of hearing my mother saying how ‘it’ll be ugly’ and that she won’t want to look at my face with it. This shouldn’t stop me, right? I mean, I’m 18 and have both my nose and bellybutton pierced, I should just do it. I’m gonna do it. A couple of days before I go off for university. Decided.

scjohnson really needs to get around to goal No.1
Okay, so now on top of the medusa piercing I’ve also decided that I love the way it looks with a vertical labret. I’m just concerned that having my nose, lip, and philtrum pierced is going to be too much metal for my face, a total of four studs.
In addition, my boyfriend and I are seriously considering getting “promise piercings” together, kind of like promise rings, but with a microdermal-implant-twist.
But at $40 a pop x3, that’s a lot of money for a soon-to-be-starving-college-student to be spending; and to get holes punched in me, none the less.

scjohnson really needs to get around to goal No.1
I’m waiting until the end of the summer to get this piercing I’ve been wanting for a few months now. I can’t hold a summer job with it in my face, but I have a fall job on a university campus; the administration there is much more liberal. I saw a picture of a beautiful young woman with this piercing in Marie Claire magazine. It’s so unique & beautiful. I have a lot of new responsibilities coming my way as a new college freshman- school, work, organizations, making new friends… I see this piercing as a symbol for bringing a center of balance into my life.

Everone has horror stories about this… but I did mine by myself and it didn’t hurt at all, it swelled a tiny bit for one day, and it healed in about three days. It was by far the easiest peircing I’ve ever had. Of course, I know anatomy, so there’s obvious places to stay away from. I absolutely love it, it’s easy upkeep, (as long as you brush your teeth, lol) and it’s just plain gorgeous.
I clean mine with a q tip and the ear care solution (saline mix thingie) from Claire’s, it’s only like 5 bucks for a huge bottle, and occasionally I get a few crusties, but it’s by far the least bitchy peircing I’ve had.
My ears were worse than the medusa. Seriously, just find a peircer you trust, get them to do it.
One thing I suggest, make sure the jewlery is at least 1 cm long (longer is always better than shorter) and that it’s a 16 gauge peice of jewelery, but it’s peirced with a 14 gauge needle. That’s how I did mine, and it leaves room for the body to recouperate it’s lost bit, and it’s less pressure.
If you want this motherucker, go get it done. Seriously. It’s gorgeous.

I just got it done today and I love it so much! it looks amazing, It didn’t hurt as much as everyone is saying it did, in fact my bellybutton hurt more then this did. It was done completely on an impulse but so worth it

presently i still have this goal marked as “worth doing”..although i am debating on changing it…i suppose time will tell…...
while i have not gotten but a few piercings i must say that this was by FAR the most painful…and also gave me quite a shock (i almost passed out)...also it caused my lip to swell to about four times its normal size…i understand that some swelling is to be expected but this seemed slightly ridiculous…however it is centered in my lip and extremely aesthetically pleasing…also it is a fairly rare piercing which gives it that extra little “cool” factor…it is especially beautiful if you have a pronounced philtrum…
however…if you do decide to go for a medusa piercing i highly recommend going through some exhausting research beforehand to find a good piercer…after i had mine done for about three weeks i had to go back and have the jewelry changed because my piercer used a stud that was much too short…my lip was growing over the stud…it took nearly an hour to get a grip on the stud to remove and change it…and now that it is fixed i can see that it is obviously crooked…
EDIT…my new piercer took my original medusa out today because of how crooked it was…guess we will try again…

i got my ‘medusa’ piercing about a month ago.
it didn’t hurt as much as my nose but it swelled up lots!
it healed pretty quickly and i’d say is definately worth getting.
