I haven't completely given up on this 2 months ago

Ok, I admit I haven’t followed this training program lately and that’s why I haven’t posted anything under this goal, but I have worked my abs every once in a while. For example in hapkido we almost always do some situps and all the other things we do also make up a good workout (especially grappling).

A Positive Surprise 5 months ago

During the last week or so I haven’t done as many sit-ups as I should have. So yesterday I took a test just to see how how to continue with the training program. And I managed 45 repetitions, which is better than a couple of weeks ago, even though I’ve been lazy with the training! Maybe it’s because I’ve done some other exercise or maybe my abs just needed some rest.

Anyway, I’m going to move on to week 5 of the program, which means more sets with fewer reps.

The situation after week #5 7 months ago

It’s been five weeks since I started working on this and I can only do about 30 “good-form” sit-ups. And I mean really good ones, in which my upper back really rises up from the floor. So I guess there’s nothing I can do but be honest with myself and go back to week #3 in the training program and keep exercising until I can do at least 41.

Week #5: Wednesday 7 months ago

I went jogging yesterday and I really could feel Monday’s workout in my abs. In spite of that today’s workout wasn’t too hard. Hopefully I will be able to move on with the program after this week.

Week #5: Monday 7 months ago

Today’s workout felt definitely easier than a week ago, but it was by no means too easy. So I guess my decisions to go through the same week twice was a good one.

Week #4: Wednesday 7 months ago

Today’s workout was quite a struggle in the end. I will certainly need to complete this week again, because even the lowest level of week number five requires at least 41 consecutive sit-ups.

Week #4: Monday 7 months ago

I decided to change my schedule a bit and did the first exercise of this week today. It was quite hard and I’m pretty sure I will re-do this week before moving on to week number five.

Week #3: Saturday 7 months ago

I had some difficulties with today’s workout, because I had a very exhausting kombatan training session yesterday. Anyway I will move on to week 4 and if that turns out too hard, I will do that week again before moving on to week number 5.

Week #3: Thursday 7 months ago

I completed today’s workout in the morning and played badminton for an hour after that. I’m almost halfway through the training program and I still find it hard to believe that in the beginning of June I should be able to do 200 consecutive sit-ups.

Week #3: Tuesday 7 months ago

This week is actually a little bit easier than the previous one because I changed to the lower level. In spite of that I could really feel today’s sets in my abs. Perhaps doing fewer repetitions allows me to do them more properly and actually gives a better workout for the muscles..?

Well anyway, it’s funny how addictive this challenge is. I’ve never liked doing sit-ups, but it’s very motivating to have a clear target. And it only takes about 10 minutes to complete a day’s workout. :-)
