I need to so bad. Especially since I just found out I am pregnant.

Done! 1 year ago

It took all day yesterday, but we finished the bedroom and computer room. Just in time for the holiday decorating…

Living room and dining room 2 years ago

are completely clean. Walls washed, carpets shampooed, furniture dusted (even the backs). I’ve got a bit of cleaning to do in the other rooms still, and he’s promised to help me shampoo the bedrooms and hallway. I’m halfway there, though!

Slight delay 2 years ago

R wasn’t feeling all that great this weekend, so I opted to laze about and cuddle. We’ll clean next weekend.

Revised the battle plan somewhat 2 years ago

Last year, the only things I didn’t do were things I cannot physically do – basically, moving really heavy furniture and moving heavy things from places above my head. I had no help, so I did everything I could possibly do, even some things that I really shouldn’t have done on my own.

This year, I have help. So I’ve decided to put off all the things that have me up on ladders until there’s someone around to catch me if I lose my balance. Other than that, I’m on schedule. My bedroom and bathroom are as clean as I can get them without assistance. (I even fixed the toilet. Go me. :)

Oh, and I found out I can indeed wash my wallpaper! Yay! (I’m sure it needs it…)

Today it feels like fall 2 years ago

I’ve not been outside yet, but there’s something in the way the light looks coming through the windows that says “fall” to me. I’m inspired to clean now. I can’t do it all, obviously, but I could get started. Instead of doing room by room, I could do the dusting and wiping in some rooms, and leave the rest for when R is here to help. For example, in the bedroom – I can wipe out all the drawers, dust the bookshelves, and wash the curtains, but wait until he can help me move the furniture to flip the mattress, wash the walls, and shampoo the carpet.

Come to think of it, it’d be faster that way, too. If all we have to do is move furniture, wash the walls, and shampoo the carpets in each room, we could feasibly finish in a weekend. If not, we’d have stuff scattered all over creation, and would have to wait until X was done before we could do Y. Hm. Well, let’s see how much I can get done here.

Battle plan 2 years ago

I’m working on my itemized list of things to do, and seeing how much less there is to do since last year’s clean. Not that there isn’t plenty to do (oh, is there…it’ll probably take me several weekends to finish), but there’s a lot less sorting on the list. Which frees me up to do things I skipped last time, like shampooing the carpets and washing the walls. (I’m going to try to wash the walls, anyway. I’ve never had much luck washing flat paint, but it’s worth a shot.)

Actually, if I could get help, I might be able to knock it out in a single weekend. Hm…

I just found $40 in the pocket of a skirt I’ve not worn in a while. I like it when the money fairy leaves me presents. :)

15 minutes a day 3 years ago

I decided to do 15 minutes a day of cleaning (minimum) It has worked out well because I live alone, and can get alot done in 15 minutes. The work doesn’t pile up this way and I feel more at ease in a clean home. It also helps with your stress level. You don’t have to stress out doing the whole house at the same time.

I’m starting on my kitchen tomorrow. One day at a time is all I can do…
