How to have a go on a Potters wheel
How I did it: I was crafts director at a summer camp, although not in charge of pottery i got to have a go at the end of the session. you need to knead the clay first to remove airbubbles otherwise it will bloe up in the kiln. you stick a lump of clay in the middle of the wheel, push the bottom down round the edges so it sticks to the wheel and pedal the turntable round, but not to fast. then you mould your pot by pushing your fingers inside to make the pot shape but keeping the sides upright (pretty tricky). You then use cheesewire to slice your pot off after you have finished.
Lessons & tips: dont go to fast, you'll just mess it up!
