Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

vwruleschickTRU-OL Thompson Rivers University Distance Learning here I come...

After a dozen emails later with the program adviser, seems the only route I can take is a distance learning course through TRU.

Now on my way to find this course and the cost of it and see how it all works.

Yeah technology – I think 5 years ago

vwruleschickso close, but so far

OK, so I want a degree. It has been a life goal for me since high school when I found out that my dad only had apprenticeships (European education)and my mom hadn’t finished high school. So I have already completed 2 certificates and 1 diploma in college and tech institute (yeah).

Now I was taken night school from 2000-2005 to complete my 3rd & 4th year courses for this degree. I had to stop finishing my schooling in 2005 as my dad got really sick and I was needed to take care of him and my mom. He did pass away in 2006.

I finally got my act together again in late 2008 to see where I stood in my studies. I have 1 more science course (4 credits) to complete, as well as, my graduating seminar/ dissertation (6 credits). Then I am done!!! I will finally have the degree I dreamed about.

Challenge is that the science course needed was not offered at night in the January semester, nor in the May semester. Now with the recent posting of the September course schedule. Again, this course will not be held in the evening again. Grrrrr! (btw i work FT during the day, hence my need to go to evening classes)

OK, so now I am thinking maybe I can take this course at another local college or university – nope. Another Road Block. I got to pray about this again and see where it takes me.

Any advise or suggestions, if not please keep me in your prayers to show me what God wants me need to do. 5 years ago
