eating well  — 2 weeks ago

Worth doing!

I am marking this one off, because even though its one of those on-going goals, I’ve been doing very well with this one lately. I’ve been good about preparing all my meals, eating lots of fruits and vegetables, and eating healthy foods I enjoy. I still have a problem sometimes with over-indulging, but overall I definitely say I eat well.

One more point to add...  — 2 weeks ago

k. eat a large breakfast, a moderate lunch, and sup lightly!

Tonight was pasta. That wasn’t too big.
Tomorrow for breakfast I shall have a soymilk-banana smoothie, some toast and an egg from our chickens. I usually don’t like eggs, but these are from our own chickens who roam free and we take good care of, so I have no qualms about eating their eggs. Unless I think of the fetus :/. Also some oatmeal, and some kind of fruit.

Lunch – soup and spinach salad with cucumbers and olive oil, maybe some spices.

dinner – whole grain toast and some steamed vegetables.

This will be my first day on the big-moderate-small meal plan. I hope it will become second nature quickly, since it is supposed to be a lot healthier than the skip-breakfast, rush-lunch and huge-dinner lifestyle that this horrid culture does.

For dinner, I had whole grain pasta with marinara sauce, with fresh basil, garlic and oregano. A bowl full. I ate it slowly, sitting on the deck. I found I wasn’t hungry enough to eat the remaining bowl, so I stored the rest. I also did the dishes immediately, and it took 30 seconds because everything hadn’t dried on. I also alloted myself 4 pieces of dark chocolate, but ate it so slowly that one sufficed. I want every meal to be like this. I even made it look nice, with the spices sprinkled on top of the pasta.

I also ate with my left hand and sat in lotus position. I guess making nice things for myself makes other goals (like “be ambidextrous” and “savor one thing at a time” and “simplify my life”) more doable.

Worth doing!

I have leftovers from two meals I’ve cooked, ready to bring as lunches. Chicken stir fry, and steak salad. And I’m signed up to taking a cooking class with my pal on Wednesday. Unfortunately, I’ve still been in the habit of eating out a lot and over eating when I do. But the good thing is that eating well tastes super good.
