Getting and living on a yacht 4 months ago

Instead of paying a mortgage or renting a flat, I want to buy a sailing yacht and explore the world.

Get a Nice Boat Within Five Years 9 months ago

I bought a house on a bay and the bay connects to the Gulf of Mexico. I would like to get a nice boat. I thought about getting a pontoon boat that would be good for cruising on the bay, but I might want to get a larger boat so that I could also go out in the gulf.

one month goal – to make an extra payment on my house which will put me in a financial position to purchase a nice boat within five years

one year goal – making extra payments on my house will put me in a financial position to purchase a nice boat within five years

three year goal – making extra payments on my house will put me in a financial position to purchase a nice boat within five years

five year goal – to purchase a nice boat and make a substantial down payment

A "boat of sorts" LOL 23 months ago

My husband wanted to be extra special nice to me and bought me his version of a boat for Christmas. It is actually an 8 foot inflatable rubber raft type boat. Gratefully, he was even generous enough to buy oars to go with it. He says he’ll get an electric motor for it “sometime later”—We’ll see how that pans out. So, instead of leisurely relaxing while floating along the river in my version of the lap of luxury, I will be sweating profusely as I use every ounce of strength I can muster to battle every tiny ripple and hoping against hope that the raft doesn’t spring a leak.

His words, “At least it IS a boat and it will be an adventure.”

My words, “If I have to gradually work myself up to a real boat, he’d better plan to be alive and married to me another 120 years, because I’m not letting him go until I get my boat.”

Honestly though, I’m not disappointed at all. Although it is not what I had hoped for, it will be fun and adventurous. Plus, it’s portable and will be very easy to bring with us wherever we choose to vacation.

Love this one 2 years ago

Already looked at a few. Somewhere out there our perfect boat is calling us. Looking and listening. Summer next year and we are living aboard. Bliss.

Nice Little 32 footer.... 2 years ago

...on TradeMe. Went down and took a look. It’s moored only 100m from our place in Milford. mmmmmm

Not just another kayak.. 2 years ago

...but something I can live on next summer anytime I want. Bliss. Probably a bilge (twin) keeler, center boarder or motor sailer. Need reasonably shallow draft so I can keep it at the place I just bought but can’t afford to live in yet. Need that rent coming in.
