been putting this off. I kind of like the stability of my life now- searching will kinda throw everything into chaos again. but it must be done.

How I did it: i made a well-organized resume, including some of my colleges course that i felt would be relevant to the type of position i was looking.i applied to about 40 different places. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I'd been going to shows since I was fifteen years old and in the fall of my senior year of high school a booking and promotions internship opened up at the local teen center. I was familiar with the center and hosted a show before the summer as my senior project, so I decided to apply. I had my interview and I got it! It was the best job that I've ever had for seven months (I consider it a job even though it was w/o pay) I realized I real… Read how I did it…

Today I wrote a letter to V Marketing, I don’t care if I get paid or not, just as long as I get some experiance and keep myself busy.
I’m hoping to get an internship with a law firm this year… and hopefully establish some contacts!

i haven’t heard a response from the place i really want so i wrote them a short email, thanking them for the interview and telling them i’ll be available in the fall if they need another intern then. i got a response, saying that they’ve been so busy that they haven’t had the time to make the decision yet and they hope i’m still available for the summer. so, still waiting for that phone call!
since that interview, i’ve applied to about 40 places. i’ve gotten a bigger response than i thought i would have. interviews, interviews, interviews! in fact, i was offered an internship yesterday but ultimately turned it down because while it’s for a big name and they were willing to give me a lot of creative freedom, i didn’t feel like it would help me advance in what i truly want to do.
meanwhile, a friend recommended me for a position at her workplace. it’s not related to anything that i do, but it’s good money, so if i don’t get the internships i want right now, i think i’ll just work and save money for the fall.

i sent my resume to over a dozen places in the past week and a half.
i got a call back and interviewed for one. i think it went well and they told me to email them and they’ll get back to me a week later, after they interview other people. i got a nice response to my follow-up email and have been waiting for the phone call since. i really, really want this one. it’s a really valuable opportunity that would help me a lot for my future.
of course, while i’ve been waiting, i’ve been applying to other places. i got two responses for interviews. one requires college credit and i don’t feel like paying money to do an internship. i also don’t have the money even if i wanted to.
another place got back to me and i gave them some times we can meet so hopefully they respond.
but, yeah, i just want this place i already interviewed for to call and say, “We want you to be our intern.”
I would like to get an internship for this summer and/or fall. I think I am a little late in getting started with this, but i guess it’s still worth a try. I am finished with one cover letter for one place, and I will send it out this week. I think it is a pretty good letter. I will write two more for two other internships and hopefully send those out this week. I hope to apply to 6 this month.
There’s a perfect internship available, that I am just dying to get. It is a position at a magazine in Boston, my hometown. The location is perfect and opportunities abound.
I am pursuing the position right now, typing up my resume and cover letter, and getting references.
I will be sending in the complete application in the next several weeks, so we’ll see how it goes! :)
So my interview was this morning, it was a sort of roundtable style, informalish, with 2 people from the organization and myself. they didn’t even look at my resume, cover letter or portfolio until after i left. it seemed like they wanted to take me on before i got there. i think they gave me a lot of credit for seeking them out and having an understanding of how they would fit what i was looking for.
so the interview went well and emails were quickly exchanged with my academic advisor so that it is approved for spring semester.
phew. i am so glad that i got my first choice, and i feel like it has the potential to be fantastic.
So on Wednesday I made calls to 5 places I had looked into and I got a call back! I need to do an internsnip this spring for credit so I made sure I was on the right path with my advisor and the next step is ::gulp:: the interview. I called back my contact and I am on for Wednesday morning!
Time to freak out a little. I’m not terribly worried about the interview itself. But I do want to make a good impression and I’m dress up retarded. I over analyze everything: high heels or no heels, small bag or medium or briefcase style? Gah!
Advice!
