I’m giving up on this for now. Too many problems with my knee. :(

It’s been 5 months of training, learning, meeting new people and raising funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We are exactly 2 weeks away from race day and I feel very ready. While being part of a good organization and helping a very worthy cause, I’ve come to know some interesting people while getting in shape once again.
I’m about 11 weeks into my training with Team in Training Westside chapter (Santa Monica, CA), and it’s all worth it. When I started, I was struggling at ONE mile… just this past Sunday I ran 16 miles, and I’m not that sore, and I feel great. It’s such a rewarding experience and you get to meet so many wonderful people.

I think I’ve decided to join the walkers for a marathon. I keep asking myself “Why am I doing this again?” I think I have greater resources to reach the financial goals earlier this time. Sorry cycling team, I just don’t have it in me to do it this time! With only 5 people signed up for cycling… I wasn’t too keen on that thought since I was the slowest rider the last time I did the Team in training. Okee dokee! Here goes nuthin’...again!

I completed the century ride in Santa Fe, NM after training for months and raising lots and lots of money for the L&L society. The fund raising seemed the harder part of the work! Here I am, about 5 years later and ready to try another round! I’m debating on whether or not to go walking this time though. We shall see later this week. I’m in a new state, so this would mean new captains and coaches.
I finished the Rock N Roll marathon in San Diego, as a walker, three years ago and raised over $8,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Got involved b/c my mom was diagnosed with lymphoma and I wanted to help in any way I could. I would love to do it again but I just don’t have the time right now.
Being a participant is a great experience. Think again before you decide to Mentor because it will be a complete letdown from your participant experience.
As a volunteer you are required to fundraise ONCE a year in order to keep Mentoring. The way you are treated is totally different and you will feel unappreciated at the end.
I did the San Diego Rock n Roll Marathon as a walker—didn’t quite finish (hit the proverbial wall at mile 21) but I did raise $4600 for Leukemia and Lymphoma society and had a great time. I would like to do this again someday…
By all means! TNT take incredible care of their participants and it was an experience of a lifetime.
Now I’ve lost the phone number of the TNT person who called me. I’ll have to send email again, I guess.
I think this’ll likely be something I formally begin in January, not this fall. Just too many balls in the air right now. I have started to block off time to work out, and if I can hit the 5K goal on my own this fall, it’ll be a good precursor for doing TNT for something longer in the spring.
Or so I’m pondering today, anyway.
