Trumpet is an awesome instrument! I took private lessons. Don’t give up, and just practice!

I’ve been renting one for like 3 years now. I probably own it. I’ve blown it but never played an actual note. It’s on the floor next to me now, looking brassy and sad.
Been playing trumpet since 5th grade, and in the 10th grade right now still playing, and while the music for school tends to be a bit boring, nothing is more satisfying then finding a piece on your own that is good, fun and difficult, and learning how to play, and eventually preform the piece.

one year we had 9 trumpets in our 50-piece school concert band.
Well … what can i say. I borrowed a trumpet from my and yesterday and am determined to play. so far i have learnt 14 tones, starting from G nat to C in the next octave up, it is however a lot more difficult to play in the upper octave at this time, i never saw myself playing a trumpet, i was always more interested in stringed instrument, but now i’m regretting the choice. i like challenges and the trumpet is giving me just that.
Now all I have to continue with is practicing a bit each day, listen to other trumpet players, and have fun with it! Maybe buy a Bach Strad if I still enjoy playing!
i practiced for about 2 hrs, took a break, and played piano, then went back and practiced for another hr. still feel as tho i havent raised the bar high enough. if i want to make it into all state band by my jr year. i think im goin to have to push my self even more. anyone have any tips?
I play the trumpet, and I’ve done it since I was practically in diapers. I can play really well by now.
I’m a music major at University of Missouri-Columbia, or Mizzou to anyone from Missouri, and I’ve been playing for 10 years. It is my life.
I played the trumpet from elementary school through college. I miss it!
