I did an eight week detox a couple of months ago and it was awesome!
I followed the plan in a book (the liver cleansing diet) which made it infinitely easier. It has heaps of yummy recipes. I also made a lot of my own recipes – just following the same principles (no sugar, processed foods, damaged fats, red meat or dairy).
I was amazed how easily I managed to stick with it. It started getting harder about week 5 or 6. I gave in maybe four times to a meal that didn’t follow the principles, then I continued with the plan. I lost heaps of weight and felt incredible – more energy, slept better, clearer in the head, better skin.
I highly recommend doing it.
I had to be more organised, but it just became habit after a while.
Since the detox, I’ve gone back to eating whatever and have put a little bit of weight back on. However, Im a lot more conscious about what I eat now and am considering doing another one – maybe a mini version tho!

It was hard and at the point of being torture. But it was so worth it because I lost weight, had more energy and better skin. Will do it again.
It is so hard to stick to this diet! No wonder people had said that they had tried and quit. It’s bland and takes more prep time than I’m used to and I get hungry suddenly and often and I crave EVERYTHING! I’ve lost five pounds, though, and I feel less “thick” inside. The skin on my forehead has started to clear up for the first time in about a month. I am sleeping better, too. So although it hurts in some ways, it feels really good in others. I will try hard to keep it up for another three days. Jeez…has it only been four days?!
