I want to be a better homemaker as well. I married my boyfriend of almost six years a little over a month ago and promised him on our wedding day, in front of God and all our family, that I would be create a comfortable, clean, loving home for him. And I am so excited about it! I love cooking for him…LOVE IT. However, I work full-time while he’s still in school so when I come home after a nine hour day, the LAST thing I want to do is a load of laundry or the dishes.

Man, I am TERRIBLE about doing laundry. I just let it pile up and it’s literally exploding from the laundry room. Luckily he and I have tons of clothes to wear in the meantime. heehee. And no matter how motivated I am to clean the bathroom, as soon as I get in the door I just want to sit down.

I have to face the facts and call it what it is…I’m lazy in the evenings. I need to find a way to find, keep, and utilize the motivation to make our home a great place to live.

I’m going to dedicate one-two hours every Saturday morning to doing heavy cleaning and laundry duty so during the week I don’t feel so overwhelmed. And do laundry at least once a week. That should bea good start, right?

I…got told off last night. Basically, my wife told me in the nicest way possible that I’m a sucky housekeeper and she has a right to expect more/better from me. Annnnnnnd I had to sit there and take my lumps because unfortunately she’s absolutely right.

So, this goal gets bumped up to #3 (nothing pushes off parenting) and I gotta go put on my dual spray-bottle holster^ and mosey off to battle the dust bunnies!

^No, I don’t have one of these, but I sure wish I did!

    This weekend was very productive:

    Saturday:
Cleaned DD’s room: cleaned out the closet and boxed up all of the clothes that were either too small or way to big (kept the items that either fit or will in the fall in the closet), cleaned out her dresser drawers and boxed up same items as well, dusted, vacuumed and swiffer the floor and cleaned off the dresser top and desk. Didn’t dust knick-knacks but oh-well. Vacuumed the hall floor, master BR floor and spare room floor. Cleaned off and organized part of the bookshelf in the spare room. Organzed growing yarn stash. Bagged up items Dniece left and some books for DSis to ship down to them. Grocery shopped and exchanged DD’s costume shoes for a larger size. Hit Michael’s for some beads and things to make some beaded stitch markers. Knit for my ME time and made the stitch markers-which turned out pretty cool for my first time beading! Tossed some paper by visiting the sites for the knitting articles and patterns I had printed and saved them as PDF files-free to toss the paper. Oh, and I did burn my recent photos to CD and cleaned off my camera card.

    Sunday:
Took some pictures of my recent knitting and uploaded them to my knitting blog. Began re-”filing” of my digital photo files; probably about 1/3 or so done-not too shabby. Cleaned the bathroom-tub, tile, sink and toilet. Dusted the woodwork and shelves and mopped the floor. Need to give it a bit more attention, but it’ll pass muster for now. :O) Went and got two rolls of film developed and took DD for a picnic lunch at a park in Marple. Cooked dinner and took some to DH at work (he worked 3 straight shifts). Took DD for a short walk (Ddog didn’t want to come) Vacuumed all floors and mopped kitchen. Folded all but one load of laundry. Scrapped four pages (paper) and knit some. Also read a bit before bed.

Also did a good bit of my routines over the weekend. :O)

Did a good bit of my routines last night (even though I took the dog to the vet) and even shined the sink. Yay, me!

Began working on my routines again two days ago. I’m making lists of “to-do” and working at them. I will get there…15 min. at a time.
