How I did it: I got it at the library. I needed a book to read, and I stumbled upon it. I found it to be a fascinating lesson about the dangers of when government can become to powerful. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I picked up an old, used copy of a paperback volume and started reading. It was difficult at times to remember that the real world is not quite as bad as in the book, but one page at a time I read my way through it and when the last page was read I was once again back in the current safety of the real world. Read how I did it…

I have wanted to read this book for a long time. I was searching for a new book to read in B&N and came across it so I decided to buy it. It was less than $10. It was an easy read for the most part. At times it reads a bit slow, but I did pick it up during vacation.
It gave me a different view on some aspects of politics, sociology and economics. I was surprised at the depth that this book went into describing how the world became the way it did. And in that description is where the fear comes from because you see how close we are to that type of lifestyle. With Big business operating the way it does with regards to politics and international law, we could see ourselves dealing with aspects of this story in real life.

It was probably the most interesting book ever. Read my how I did it.

I still haven’t read it yet, but I finally found our copy of it. I had to share that there’s a short film called “Me and the Big Guy” that’s pretty good, though. You can probably find it on YouTube.
LovelyStrife I've got to go; gotta leave you all behind and face the truth!
I was happier when I only read the first two sections of the book. The last section is very sad… He was broken and that made me sad.
It is a great book and you should read it, but I do wish I had never completly finished it. I liked the book much more having only read the first two sections.
what am i waiting for. I read handmaids tale by Atwood during the summer and was told a dozen times that 1984 is far better. got it at home so no excuses on this one
Bought George Orwells The Complete Novels bundle a couple of months ago, and read Animal Farm, Coming up for air and Burmese Days so far, which I all recommend reading. I once started reading 1984, a couple of years ago, but it was in e-book, and that’s not very comfortable to read in my opinion, so I didn’t finish it back then. But this time I’ll persist.
