Wanting to learn Sindarin 3 years ago

I am not the greatest person at searching the internet…can anyone tell me the best way to learn Sindarin??? I would like to learn at home on my spare time. Is there a course that can be purchased? Any advice would be a great help. Thanks!!!

Occasionally, I’ll spot people wearing ‘I <3 Nerds' t-shirts.

A year or two ago, it finally occurred to me that I should be talking to these people (most being hot girls). Specifically, I should be saying something along the lines of ‘lan hamad melin’ or ‘lIj yor chen jIH Quch’. Sadly, small lexicons + not much use online == hard to piece together phrases, and probably more painful to learn.

I’ve already learnt Quenya, and it’s a wonderful language. Sindarin seems to sound nicer, and be a lot harder. Still, it’s worth a try.

i used to know more 3 years ago

in college i took a class on fairy and the christian myth. we read all of lord of the rings and read quite a bit on the origins and pronunciations of the languages in lotr. then a friend wanted me to learn sindarin with her, so she would have someone to speak with. i remember only a few things, like the greeting mae govannen. (forgive my misspellings)
