I sing in my church—just not solo. I kinda led a song a couple of years ago for the choir. That was as close as it has gotten. I was sooo nervous. The ultimate would be singing a whole song alone. I like to push myself to overcome my fears. This does count as a fear!!
How to sing a solo at church
How I did it: I was directing our children's Christmas pageant and one of our soloists was abscent for a practice, so I filled in. Just for the kids, but I've figured out that I'm just not the big solo for a big audience kinda gal.
Lessons & tips: Loud and strong, no pressure.
Resources: A mic?

I told my pal Alexis I’d sing a solo for her in my youth group before I left for college. So I’d better get on it! hehe.
i did it! i m so happy! i sang “When Peace Like A River” and it felt so good to finally sing in front of people. id definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to. yeah, i was shakin while i was up there but it was fine. i m so happy!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I’ll have to start out in youth group where there’s less people. (and they’re all my friends, so they can’t make fun of me if I stink! lol) Maybe I’ll get a group together and kinda shrink it til I finally get the guts to do a solo. hehe. Good luck to the rest of ya!
i wish i could do this soooo bad! the only thing is im afraid my voice would get croaky in front of everyone. it scares me, but i wish i could still do this.
