Snowy? (An homage to Tintin) 3 months ago

Isn’t he adorable? He’s such a timid, placid dog. He’s only a tad larger than a chihuahua! I’ve yet to hear him bark and he cannot maintain eye contact. He is constantly trembling and very fearful of his surroundings; his tail is between his hind legs almost always. I hope he will be able to develop more confidence as time passes and that he will feel comfortable and loved in our home.

Done - sort of but not exactly. 3 months ago

Well, due to my younger sister’s persistent pleading, my mother has decided to adopt a male maltese cross which is on ‘death row’. He is apparently four years old and was found as a stray prior to being admitted to the pound. Should my mother proceed with the adoption, he’ll be scheduled to undergo the desexing operation on Monday. He will also have to be vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed. We’ll be able to collect him on Tuesday.

He looks absolutely miserable…I was told that the dog showed signs of mental distress and trauma and that it is possible he may have been abused by his previous owner. It breaks my heart that someone could inflict pain and suffering on such a vulnerable, docile creature. I know we’ll take care of him. His coat will have to be trimmed too, he looks a mess.

Clearly, he’s not a puppy but I’ll be marking this goal as done once we have him in our home.

ADORABLE! 8 months ago

I was wondering what kind of dog I would like. I am an animal person, so the idea of more than one dog appeals to me. As does the idea of more than one cat. Anyway, I’m think I’ll get at least one big dog (Golden Retriever, or maybe some kind of Doodle? My favorite Doodle is the Golden Doodle, and I guess that’s a compromise!), and one little dog (Yappy chihuahuas have somehow captured my heart). Somehow, though, and I don’t remember what exactly happened, but I came across some pictures of a little female Maltese with a ‘puppy cut’. Just look up a Maltese dog on Wikipedia and you’ll see the ‘puppy cut’. It’s a hairstyle (furstyle?) and it’s adorable. You just have no idea until you see it. They’re tiny, and white, and I LOVE them. I have to wait until I move out, though, which sucks.
Besides the suckiness of that, I’ll have to keep him/her trimmed, and fed, and bathed, and let’s just say that my mom’s cocker spaniel isn’t exactly receptive to my overtures on that front. He’s such a little weirdo. Doesn’t really matter, though, because I’m getting that Maltese. Whether today, or tomorrow, or next year (the last one is the most likely), it WILL happen, because I am determined. Unless I see a picture of a cuter breed (that is not likely). LOVE MY PUPPY!

Never thought.. 11 months ago

I never thought I’d adopt this goal after the death of my first and only pet. It’s been four years since her death in 2004, and I recall promising myself I’d never get another dog on the day she died. She was the prettiest and most loyal maltese terrier, who was unfortunate enough to succumb to two heart attacks triggered by valvular heart disease. Gosh..I miss her so much.

But anyway, I do miss having a pet and I would love to get another maltese terrier. However, I don’t want a pure Maltese, mainly because my previous dog was pure Maltese. Maybe a Maltese/Shih Tzu cross? No animal could ever replace her though. Hope she’s having fun at the Rainbow Bridge.

so technically hes a maltese poodle cross
his name is ernie (after ernest hemingway not the sesame street puppets)
he brings So much joy into my life!

last year i suffered from severe depression and an eating disorder and he has helped cure me! hes so loving and it gives me something else to focus my attention on besides my body. I honestly dont believe i would still be in this life without him, he is truly my guardian angel and lifesaver but of course he’ll never understand that,
he loves me so unconditionally, its something everyone needs
