This is my friend’s roommate! I decided to start off with someone whom I know. She helped me take photos of other people by acitng as a decoy. For the photos of strangers I will just make-up observations and draw wild conclusions. For photos of people I know or speak to, I will just state a little bit about them. She likes Flogging Molly. She has an interesting sense of humor, sang with me on the way to the shuttle, and looks “typically American” whatever that means. :) 3 years ago

I took many photos today, one of a friend’s roommate and several of strangers. I think I will do a mixture of people who I know and strangers… probably mostly strangers. This creates some problems as I must take photos from a far (my zoom is broken, but I can zoom on the computer in editing…), because if I take photos too close people always can tell… In fact someone got upset in Sbarro(’s) today when I took a photo… I wasn’t taking a photo of her, but she might have been in the shot. I’ve enlisted the help of my friend to make it look as though I am taking her photo, so a couple of the photos are over her shoulder… Sneaky is what I will have to be in order to get some good shots. My friends and I spoke with Brittish accents today and I stood on the table to get a few shots and one boy in a suit and purple dress shirt passed us about 6 times and then we passed him once… it was strange. I tried to get a photo of him, but everytime that I tried the photo was blurry, because I was afraid that he would be able to tell I was trying to take his picture if I took it too close to him… 3 years ago

Tonight I will charge the batteries, I will bring the camera, AND I will use it… I am thinking that I want these photos to be mostly candid, but they do not all have to be of strangers, but I think I would like for most of them to be… some of them can be friends or family though… Hopefully in photographing people I will notice them more, take a moment and truly see them, think about their lives and feel closer to them. I will also have to practice my spy skills and be a little bit sneaky taking pictures… espeically because the zoom on my camera is broken… so I’ll have to zoom in after I take the photo… or get close to the people in the first place. I don’t know 100% what I hope to accomplish with this goal… I started it because I saw someone with a similar goal, but for people she knows and thought it would always keep me on my feet on the look-out for interesting people… or rather interesting parts of people who are around me, because really they are all interesting. I want to be alert all the time, be aware of the wonder of the people I see everyday or might catch a glimpse of. Just think of all of the people who’s lives I am so lucky to glimpse, to be a part of for a moment… Finding 100 should be a breeze. :) 3 years ago

By the sheer act of writing this entry a fire will be lit under my bum to start this project… I saw someone with a similar goal and decided to start my own. What I need to do is charge my batteries, bring my camera to campus with me and find my first victim…erm… person… I will try to not just take picture, but watch the person from a far and write a little story based on what I learn from watching them… I will try to not let my photos be solely of college students and professors. I need to go to places like the mall, parks, restaurants ect… so that I can get a wide range of different people and so all my stories aren’t “This person is stressed about Mid-terms and is playing frisbee to relieve the stress and blow off some steam.” Too bad those preachers don’t come on campus anymore!!! They were banned because they were offending people (which I believe is against freedom of speech, because it is a public University and therefore open to all people…) I was even offended by what they were saying (that people were going to go to hell and such), but I believe they have a right to say it!
