Best Month Ever: August 2009

SlayneB is thankful for many things this Thanksgiving.

I've been really sticking to my 43t goals 3 months ago

and making progress, so this goal rocks my world! Tomorrow I start clinicals in the hospital, I am already prepared and ready to go! So that will complete August, which indeed was a best month.

Week of August 22: 3 months ago

A week full of revelations, and a drama that I was unknowingly drawn into. Now that that’s done, I can focus on some other things.

1. Become a licensed acupuncturistNot so hot on this goal this week.Continue studying and signing up for ETC jobs. Put $75 in the board exam fund on the weekend.

2. Begin dancing again (get in shape, and go to one dance related event a month)Did qi gong. No running. No dance. Watched this really funny flamenco scene, though.:)
Qi gong 2x. Run 2x. Dance 1x?

3. Do what it takes to heal my knee (and other medical problems that may come up).I feel good. Went to a doctor’s appointment this week.
Ask coworker dentist’s name. Ask N. for eyedoctor’s name. Continue the Bupleurum Cleanse, which is a 30 day process. Eat healthy meals and take my supplements.

4. Plan one big trip this year, preferably overseas, and 1-4 short trips.Still cash strapped. Return books to library, and read a good travel memoir.
Do some fengshuiing in the helpful people/travel section. Hey, it costs nothing.:)

5. Begin and end all conversations on a positive note.Still haven’t sent any notes, but I bought a couple.:)
Send one note to a friend. Say positive things about people (including myself). Stay close to consistently positive people. Know that I’m a gift and that other people are gifts as well.

6. Clear some financial wreckage, i.e. consolidate student loans, etc. and follow Debtproof living plan.Paid a past due balance on the phone bill. Would be good to update the resume.
Keep up with Wesabe. Do one or two feng shui things in the prosperity corner. Parking ticket thing (add two more tickets to the plan).

7. Keep my home clean and beautiful.House is a mess. Want to work on the as soon as I walk in the door idea.
Flylady/do routines as soon as I walk in the door.

8. Seek help in finding peace with myself and my family, while staying close to my community.Had a therapy appointment and went to three meetings.Practice EFT. Ask people to pray for me and my family relationships. 2-3 meetings.

9. Appreciate the opportunity to love, and find a lover who I truly love.Found out the reason why T. disappeared. Realized it wasn’t my fault at all. Miss I. now. When will I just meet someone I like who is honest and kind?
Put some money in the new bed fund (feng shui). Prayer.

10. Be on time for work.Leave an extra 15 minutes commute time.A good week!Keep up with this.

Week of August 16: 3 months ago

It was a good week. I was able to juggle most of the goals. The only one that got left out was the fun dancing goal.:(

1. Become a licensed acupuncturistStudied a couple of days this week. I will incorporate this more into my schedule. I think the best time to do this for 30 minutes after a morning shift, and Saturday afternoons.
Continue studying and signing up for ETC jobs.

2. Begin dancing again (get in shape, and go to one dance related event a month)Did qi gong a few times this week. No Summerdance. Almost went yesterday, but had quite a full day before it. I’ll need to invite a few people to go with me so I go for sure.
Qi gong 1-3x this week. Gym or run 1-3 x. Plan a Summer Dance outing.

3. Do what it takes to heal my knee (and other medical problems that may come up).Feel good! Doctor’s appt. was rescheduled for this week. They somehow forgot to put me on the calendar.
Ask coworker dentist’s name. Ask N. for eyedoctor’s name. Continue the Bupleurum Cleanse, which is a 30 day process.

4. Plan one big trip this year, preferably overseas, and 1-4 short trips.Read a little. Not much on this goal. So cash strapped it’s hard to imagine going anywhere.

7. Keep my home clean and beautiful.I did all of the kitchen missions, except for 5 which I’ll do today (mopping kitchen floor). Place is coming along! I threw away a bunch of food that expired in 2007.
Flylady/do routines as soon as I walk in the door.

8. Seek help in finding peace with myself and my family, while staying close to my community.A good meeting week. EFT appt. was canceled due to EFT therapist having a car accident on the way to our appointment! She’s okay,but her car got totaled. I’ve continued tapping, and I feel like I have an unending supply of issues to tap around. I keep finding anger underneath everything else.
Practice EFT. Ask people to pray for me and my family relationships.

9. Appreciate the opportunity to love, and find a lover who I truly love.Like in 8, I’m feeling quite a bit of anger. I’m seeing how I ‘attach’ to people. I’ve learned to come from a place of inferiority and I’m sure, deepseated anger, and that’s no way to connect with someone. I’m taking a break from dating for now, and tapping, looking within, etc.
Put some money in the new bed fund (feng shui). Therapy appointment.

Week of August 9: 3 months ago

1. Become a licensed acupuncturistBegan studying and figured out budget that I can take the first board exam in October.
Continue studying and signing up for ETC jobs. The reason for the ETCs are to pad income so I can take the exams sooner, and also fund my licensing fee.

2. Begin dancing again (get in shape, and go to one dance related event a month)No progress this week. Procrastinated when it came around to doing qi gong.
Qi gong 1-3x this week. Gym or run 1-3 x. Plan a Summer Dance outing.

3. Do what it takes to heal my knee (and other medical problems that may come up).Good progress. Saw Rudy. Have doctor’s appointment this week.
Ask coworker dentist’s name. Ask N. for eyedoctor’s name. Continue the Bupleurum Cleanse, which is a 30 day process.

4. Plan one big trip this year, preferably overseas, and 1-4 short trips.Went to the library and got books on Spain and Illinois. A coworker told me about www.roadsideamerica.com, and she said that she based a couple of roadtrips on it.
Read books and check out website. Gather ideas. Pinpoint weekend I’d like to take roadtrip.

5. Begin and end all conversations on a positive note.Pretty good week. Haven’t sent any notes yet, though, and I really want to do this.
Send one note to a friend. Say positive things about people (including myself). Stay close to consistently positive people. Know that I’m a gift and that other people are gifts as well. I realize that I have a friend who’s pretty nice, but he can sometimes bring me down. Maybe take a break from talking to him so much, and hang out with friends who are more consistently kind.

6. Clear some financial wreckage, i.e. consolidate student loans, etc. and follow Debtproof living plan.Nothing on this this week. Very important thing this week is to do payment arrangement for parking tickets. Damn!
Keep up with Wesabe. Do one or two feng shui things in the prosperity corner. Tap around finances. Parking ticket thing.

7. Keep my home clean and beautiful.Another great week! I have a dust free hallway, and have sorted through a lot of things to give away.

8. Seek help in finding peace with myself and my family, while staying close to my community.Okay week, but only one meeting. I feel a big difference when I go more often. I made an appointment with an EFT therapist, and will see her on Wednesday.2-3 meetings this week. Practice EFT. Ask people to pray for me and my family relationships.

9. Appreciate the opportunity to love, and find a lover who I truly love.Spent a lot of time being sad this week when I realized I wasn’t going to hear from T. directly. It seems I’m getting the cold shoulder and it hurts. I suck at this goal.
Stay open. Put some money in the new bed fund (feng shui). See EFT therapist (appt. was canceled).

10. Be on time for work.Leave an extra 15 minutes commute time.
_Another good week of being on time, except for Friday am (about 8 minutes late), but I closed the night before.

Run, Workout, Trivia, Frisbee. Wedding in Saint Louis – see all my old college friends. Crater Lake Camping Trip – with new Portland friends. The one and only Hood to Coast 197 mile relay race. Get the CCS certification – a career goal. See the Wailers in concert. Go the Portland Art Museum – see the MC Escher Exhibit.

I’m trying to relax a little. Quit being so hard on myself if I don’t exercise enough or eat healthy enough. Quit stressing out about money and budgets. Just live a little. It’s all going to be okay. Enjoy life. You’re blessed.

Week of August 2nd: 4 months ago

I’m feeling pretty good this month. Last week seemed to be pretty good moderate progress. I got quite a few things done; paid off a loan, deferred a loan, and finished EFT class, all while ‘staying close to my community’ and ‘having fun’. I also realized that my goals of becoming licensed in acupuncture and dancing again have been two that I’ve avoided. I’d like to consider these my ‘doing the tough stuff first’ goals for the week. I think if one goal could be avoided or at least, let lie fallow for the week, it would be the ‘finding a lover’ goal. It took way too much mental room last week. Overall, I feel pretty good, though!

1. Become a licensed acupuncturistNo progress with this at all last week, although I did sign up for the ETC jobs. Still continuing to learn Chinese herbal stuff at work.This week, I’ll sit down and plan finances for the first board exam. Challenged myself to take first exam in October. Also, I think it might be a nice time to update my resume, and sign up for focus groups on the ETC jobs on Craigslist.

2. Begin dancing again (get in shape, and go to one dance related event a month)Last week, did qi gong, and will go dancing tonight.
Gym 1-3 times this week. Look for dance related things to go to this month (Soul night this Wednesday, and Summer Dance on Saturday). Qi gong 1-3x this week. Went dancing at a really fun, unpretentious tavern Saturday night!

3. Do what it takes to heal my knee (and other medical problems that may come up).Last week, made good progress with supplements, and had a great session with Rudy. Left should started hurting, and he gave me a great crack!Make appt with Rudy for Monday. Ask coworker dentist’s name. Continue the Bupleurum Cleanse, which is a 30 day process.

I kept running into people from my community on the street, and felt surrounded by love and support. EFT is well-integrated in my morning routine, and have been doing it mostly everyday.

9. Appreciate the opportunity to love, and find a lover who I truly love.This was a challenge as someone I went on a few dates with kind of vanished last week. I saw my therapist today, and her input was really helpful around selfcare and kindness. We talked about ways to be honest with T. in a way that’s kind, and yet I can keep an eye out for what I want in a relationship, and it’s likely that it won’t be with him. Put money in new bed fund.
Stay open. Put some money in the new bed fund (feng shui). Check out online possibilities (or rather meditate on this if I want to or not.)

10. Be on time for work.Leave an extra 15 minutes commute time.This was great this last week. I was on time or early every day.
