It’s hotter than hell here in Austin. And I’m menopausal. So, the idea of doing hot yoga doesn’t make much sense. I have found, however, that I do better when I don’t do the rational thing. So, I dove into the fire. I took advantage of Sunstone Yoga’s 10 days for $10 promotion. I love it. I sweat buckets, and it feels like all the toxins are pouring out of me. I went six times in the ten days. Already, I can see my progress. They have a built in system to keep you maotivated with chakra-colored wristbands that acknowledge your progress and focus your practice. I can’t wait to get my red 10-classes completed band!

As a massage therapist, I often suggest going to a yoga class for clients to learn body awareness, how to use the breath to stimulate the relaxation response, improve posture and promote flexibility. Unfortunately, I myself never get around to going to class or doing a home practice. Argh! It’s been 10 years and 50 pounds since I completed several yoga teacher trainings and did yoga with any regularity. I’ve been asked to teach a few yoga postures tomorrow to my fellow cosmetology students who are eager to learn. It’s exciting/scary, but has me thinking about how I need to reintegrate yogic principles and practices into my ideal life plan.
