My pro told me last year to go out early in the am and hit serves for about an hour. I did this 4 or 5 times and it really helped. I knew exactly what was doing wrong and fixed it up. I even got the point where I felt like I could really place the ball well.
It usually takes about 15 minutes of warming up to get the right feel for it, which is a problem if I’m playing against one of my friends who is always pushy to just start the match after a general rallying warm-up. The last time she beat me 6-4 because I doubled a bunch of times. Had I warmed up properly I would have smoked her.
This summer I’m definitely to spend more time focusing on my serve.

I have been taking lessons for the last 2 years and I have a new coach this year. I have been away from tennis for 3 months and its been great to get back onto the court. Despite 2 years of coaching my serve is still terrible. I have been focusing a lot on my strokes at the net but if I want to be able to play a decent game, I really have to do something about my truly woeful serve.

Over the past years my serve sucked, bt at the end of last year’s season and into this year’s, my serve improved. I do toss higher and hit harder. My trainer showed me that the continental grip is really important and the snap of the wrist is good too.
Unfortunatly, I was playing a match against another school and during my serve, I plled soemthing on my sholder and it hurts too much just to lift my am in that position again.
