How I did it: this was a long journey, but worth it. i went to a few workshops which introduced me to the concept of being more present. i learned about centering and grounding. then i read and read and read, not only self-help/psychology books, but literature, science, nutrition, etc. i read, analyzed each reading, made connections, and put what i learned into action. i started spending more time with family and friends, reaching out to them for help and helping them when they were in need as well. i started taking better care of myself, eating well and exercising. i made the decision to let go of old ideas, things and people that were no longer necessary in my life. and with this internal cleaning, came a new sense of freedom. i made room for new experiences and started experiencing them. i let go of my irrational fears and started living, living in each moment. life is much richer when you are fully present, being able to fully experience something. it is a little scary, my heart is open and vulnerable, but it is so much nicer to feel a wide range of emotions than being trapped in the mundane. so, how did i do it? it took some time, but i guess it all came down to: educating one's self, a healthy diet, exercise, social environment, internal cleansing, experiencing new things, and taking the risk of opening my heart in order to truly feel again. if you can find something you love doing, then do it. let go of all your thoughts, work, family, worries, whatever, and just do it, feel it, be there in the moment, and enjoy it. it will give you inner strength and you'll feel much better about life, those around you, and yourself. good luck!
