I’m trying to find a group to join for the Asheville 48 Hour Film Project to do this again this year. After that, I’m going to need to start getting out and meeting people. This is something I feel I’m really wanting to get into. 3 years ago

I would LOVE to write music for an independent film. I have no idea how though. I saw someone recommend versusmedia below, maybe I’ll check them out. 4 years ago

I’ve found an easy way to import the video portion of dvd into Adobe Premiere. I can do this and add my own music. So, I am going to try writing music for old films. We have a lot of old movies that have fallen into public domain that i can use. It’ll be a lot of work and effort, but I think it may be fun. 5 years ago

Hey,
I’m a songwriter/singer who has finished my first album and doing 7 more songs with another producer and am looking to place some songs…would absolutely love to get them out on the indie circuit. Please let me know if anyone is looking!

I’m working on a second Vacant Sky Parlor album. The first one was for the RPM Challenge (write/record an album in 28 days) while I was going to school full time, working fulltime, and being a father. This second one, I’m under similar time constraints.. but I’m setting a deadline of the end of the year, so I really have time to work on things a bit more and let things be more thought out. I wake up with a lot of ideas for individual songs that i have time to ponder and incorporate.
Anyway, I’m learning a lot working on this one, that will be very applicable in doing film music also. Not just limited to the song writing, but also production, sound design, etc.. Also, I don’t want to take time away from this project to work on the film music. I wouldn’t be able to handle it all at once. So, in 2008: film music? 5 years ago

I have signed up for an account at versusmedia.com, which is a site for independent film/video artists to seek out independent musicians to provide music for their films. 5 years ago

Back in the mid 90s, fresh out of high school, this was what I dreamed of doing. Amazing how apathy and lack of confidence can lead to doing completely different things. So, I gather up this dream again, and will eventually do it. By the end of the decade. I say! 6 years ago

How does one get their music into movies? 7 years ago

I have all my studio equipment in Germany. So my hands are tied right now. However, if I would love the movie’s storyboard, I would do this even for free.
At university we had one course where we had to do music videos and our team of three also made the song. I don’t quite remember if we were coming up with the song or with the video first but the cutting the video and timing the sound to it was great fun (although many many hours and days of work). And we borrowed a pretty huge (and expansive) camera for that cause. Hey maybe I should change that goal in “make an independent film and its soundtrack”?! 7 years ago
