A lady from my church taught me how on a Monday night and a long delay from a flight on Thursday secured it in my mind. I printed some instructions from a website called This’n’tat if I forgot anything, and that was that. I finished my first project (a cross bookmark) a few days later.
I am really glad I learned how and I hope to be able to pass it down to the next generation!

I’ve been trying to learn to tat for about 50 years, did manage to learn the very basics of making a ring last year, then quit. Last month I decided to try again, had someone tell me needle tatting was easier, so I bought a video, book and needles, and have been learning that way, and it is much easier, but still want to master shuttle tatting.

I bought a tatting shuttle today. Now I need to get some thread and find some really simple instructions.

I tried it for a while, took some lessons from my mom. I decided I’m not quite motivated enough to overcome my lack of fine motor skills.

And I did watch it but haven’t done much else. I also posted some patterns I want to try from the Internet to my wiki.

My cousin showed me the basics – with a shoestring. I don’t think I remember it exactly, but at least I’ve got an idea. Any suggestions?

ordered needles, and already created a first little sample. Now I need some pattern books so I can make something useable. I’ve created a wish list on Nordic Needle and plan to get to this a bit later.
