finish my scrapbook

Ugh, I’ve fallen so far behind on my scrapbooking. I still need to finish up last year’s book, and to make this year’s book! I’ve kept a list going of all the pages that I need to do, I just have to get around to doing it! Maybe I’ll start on it tonight. ^^

and i’ve done about four pages or so.
i’m satisfied with what i’ve done, but it’s not the awe-inspiring creative genius i imagined…blah.
but oh well.
it’s only my first time around.

It took 3 years, but I’m done!! This scrapbook was of my trip to Egypt in 2006. I went there with my now ex-boyfriend. It was a very long relationship and a very abrupt and shocking ending that left me sad for awhile. (He’s marrying a 21 year old Egyptian girl in October- less than a year from when we broke up!) Anyway, it took me awhile to be able to look at these pictures without being upset or angry, but completing the scrapbook became cathartic. It was a way for me to close a chapter of my life and clear the way for a new one.

I am so excited! I am done with all of the main pages I originally planned on, and even did something cute for the cover. I just have a couple of layouts I want to do for various themes: movies, cooking for each other, friends (maybe?), and I may replace one page that I am not too happy with by doing a page on Jason’s graduation party in its place. Sounds like a lot, but one more good session and this goal is D-O-N-E!!!! (It only took me about 8 years or so, but hey- who’s counting?) :) I will be ecstatic when this is complete!

I did another 1 1/2 pages last night! Just 2 1/2 to go plus some bonus pages or labels/finishing touches for miscellaneous leftover material.

Probably another night or two left!

At long last, I dusted off the scrapbook and tackled it yesterday—thanks to my awesome husband, that is! It was our 6 year wedding anniversary yesterday and rather than going out to eat and stuff, we went out for coffee and then headed home, put on some tunes, and got out the scrapbooking stuff and went to town on both our ‘dating’ scrapbook (the one this goal is for) and our honeymoon one- he worked on that one. I love that he can do that sort of stuff and not feel funny about it- I know a lot of guys wouldn’t even think of trying it, but he’s creative and open-minded. Two of the things I love about him!
So, I finished 6 more pages last night, and now I have 4 more to do (6 maximum) and it will be DONE!! :)

I’ve been working on these scrapbooks since 1999. I used to really enjoy the creative aspect of it, now it feels almost like a chore – one more thing that needs to be done. Pages used to take me forever because they had to be cutting-edge and perfect. I haven’t done any scrapbooking in 2 years and all my supplies and pictures are piling up. I’d like to do more simplistic pages and just get them finished.

I found a pic in hubby’s memento bag from way back, so I scanned it and printed it—it came out way bigger than I wanted it to, but I can crop it.

So, everything is out on my craft table. I have 11 pages totally done. Need to do around 20-25.
