How I did it: i am a knitter (not that great, but passable!) and have always been curious as to how a touque would be made. by chance a friend of mine was staying for a while and brought her wool, so of course, it began! i found it a really easy skill to catch on to, and i have not stopped for the past few weeks! i have made a touque for myself, my sister, by boyfriend, my boyfriends friend, now i am making headbands! i just cant stop now. ahhbee is trying new knitting patterns.
How I did it: I bought my first crochet needle and some more wool to add to my collection on the Friday. By the time Saturday came along I'd made several different types of flowers and butterflies, that afternoon I mastered numerous stitches and started a couple of projects that are coming along nicely! aborealis773 has a beautiful baby boy named Victor!
I bought the book, a set of crochet hooks and a light green ball of yarn. The book is called “I Can’t Believe I’m Crocheting.” The first time I cracked the book, I was struggling to make the slip knot, and I thought, yeah, when I learn to crochet, I will be saying “I can’t believe I’m crocheting!” But I was able to learn how to make a chain and the single stitch, so that was encouraging. I also found working with my hands in that way was soothing. So I’m going to continue.
TruEssence is being open.
I have always wanted to learn how to crochet. I plan to research different styles and try it in 2009.
This is the 2nd try – it would not be correct to name the first try “a flower”.
on this rainy, snowy dark Sunday afternoon I decided to give crochet a try. I found a crochet needle I remembered I bought last year as I was knitting a sweater and, well, often loosing my thread: the crochet was helpful to get it back. I took also the wool left from the socks I knitted a few months ago.
On the internet, I found 2 interesting sites, and combining them I learned today 4 different points.
Now my thumb is aching, but I’m happy I did something on that goal today !
I went to the nearest small stores that sells crochet / knit / cross-stitch stuff, and looked at the patterns they had. This was all too old-fashioned, I don’t think I’m gonna find what I want there. Better look for resources on the internet !
2 years ago I learned how to knit, mainly thanks to 43T because that was a goal once posted here on my previous account.
So, now, why not learn how to crochet ?
JadedForever just is.
learning!
It seems awfully confusing to me.
And I want to make a blanket NOW!
Must have patience…
So I have decided to learn how to crochet. I would love to be able to make my kids blankets and things like that. And since I sell things on Ebay, it would be nice to be able to make them for that too. Who knows I may be really good @ it. I love being creative and trying new things. I am going to order, Crocheting for dummies…LOL… if i cant do it w/ the help of that book, well, it will be sad! Now I just have to stick w/ it and not quit like i do everything else that i start!
