I learned Norwegian, which is relatively obscure (it’s not Spanish or French) and I have met so many interesting people because of it! Once, I was sitting at a coffee shop and talking to a friend and they made a remark about me being Norwegian. Then, someone a few tables down from me heard and proceeded to talk to me in Norwegian! It was really cool. People are much more impressed when you know a less common language. 5 years ago
