get a vertical labret piercing

hii all i had my verticle lip done n omg im not lying it did hurt so bad and i have many many unusual piercings my lip has swelled so much i had it done yesterday and iv got 2 go back 2 the shop 2 get a bigger bar as its swelled that much the balls are sinking into my top lip. Please dont be put of by this as everyone is different it looks awsome though and espescially if you have a fatter bottom lip like me :D i love piercings and thought of it yesterday and just had it done. it goes straight through so theres no messing around but it is shocking when it goes through and it made my eyes water good luck its worth getting done though :D

I got my vert. labret on my 21st birthday. I must say, it is one of the most interesting piercings out there and I get a lot of compliments/questions about it. My piercer was lovely so I thought I’d answer a lot of questions I see around about them. :)

1) It hurt. It hurt more then other piercings I’ve had because they basically make two holes. Because of this they need to pierce the bottom then position it then pierce again. It’s also going through a muscle which makes the pain a lil worse then just skin.

2)My piercer told me standard size is 14g. When I downsized from my 1/2 length to a 3/8 (which you WILL need to do about 3-4 weeks in. Otherwise the jewelry is to big and WILL snag on things and take longer to heal. If your jewelry isn’t long enough for when you get it pierced there’s a high chance that your lip will swell and the jewelry will sink into your lip.) I went with a 16g. I regret this decision. Most curved barbells are 14g (fun ones at least) so now I need to stretch back to a 14g for fun jewelry. Also, quartz retainers are either 14g or 18g. If you plan on hiding this piercing, stay with 14g.

3)If you’re looking to buy jewelry, I’d go with something nice and long for the first piercing, then downsize to a 3/8 or 5/16 for length. I’m at at a 3/8 currently and it’s a little bit to long for me as I want this as a snug piercing. YMMV of course. :)

Overall, if you want this piercing, go for it. It’s fun, sexy, and unique. Standard jewelry is of course, a curved barbell; the kind for eyebrows, NOT navel. Also, buy a lot of straws! You will need them for a couple weeks until you get used to it.

I was browsing an ‘ehow’ article on body piercing and they used this for the accompanying illustration. sigh . . . it looks so cool!

Wonder if I might get a new piercing before the end of the year. It’s been a while!

I got my vertical labret a few days ago after pondering it for two years. I’m so glad I finally got it, its so pretty. Its not the most pleasant feeling piercing to get but once it’s in it doesnt hurt at all. I’d definitely recommend it…it generally looks best on people that have a larger lower lip though.

I adore the vertical labret piercing! I haven’t gotten it yet.. and it prolly won’t happen for awhile.. maybe when I am 16 my mom will finally cave in.. lmao Uhm.. I have had friends that have done it professionally and by themselves.. for people not going professional.. be careful and use a sterolized piercing needle! Also.. if you are a pain pussy.. then use like Ora-gel or some coldsore/ toothache medicine or ice because it numbs your lip :)

all that into piercings until I found this one! I would get it offset though. I reaally would like to get this done as soon as i turn 18 =] It’s hot.

I really want this dont but I cant stand pain or needles whatsoever, plus my friends hate it. I htink it’s really nice though! Is it a straight bar?
