I want TWO!  — 6 months ago

My current doggie (a great big mutt) is getting older & I’ve decided to get a great dane puppy or two while he’s still around to teach them how to behave. Dane’s are so cute & seem to have great personalities! Now I just have to pick a color…

It is totally amazing to live with Danes – my wife & I have have two in our little one bedroom apartment – they are loving, kind, playful, intuitive and happy. I couldn’t live without them! Danes have pretty specific needs – one tip: get your Danes stomach tacked – they sew each side to their insides so it won’t flip inside them, which is fatal, and somewhat common. It will save you a whole lot of worry.

Great danes are a wonderful breed for the right person. I currently have 2 adults BLK male Bronson (1 yr old) whom I bred and kept. BLK female Zora who I just brought home after my other BLK female Sia retired. Zora and Bronson were bred and Zora had 16 puppies on April 27th. there are 12 girls and 4 boys, we have blacks, blues and brindles. Please see my website at Judordanes.piczo.com for pictures and information about this wonderful breed. so that more of you can realize your goal of having a Great Dane.

My family has had three Danes since I was a little girl, and I couldn’t imagine not having one. My parents current dog, Captain, is a blue merle who unfortunately has a heart condition.
My other half and I plan to get a Great Dane puppy at Christmas, as a present to each other and our Stafford x Rottweiler, Sasha (the little puppy playing with Captain in this picture). Sasha absolutely adores Captain, but won’t put up with him when he tries to boss her around, so we know that she’ll hold her own with a puppy that will grow to be twice her size.
Fortunately, there is no need for a Great Dane rescue in my area, and I will be buying from a registered and reputable breeder – our last Dane was taken in from a girl that couldn’t keep her anymore, and had fractures in her growth plates.

I love danes. I am not sure what kind I would like yet. I don’t know the correct term for it but, I think I like the spotted one. Black and white spots or..maybe a brown one.

This is so totally worth it! About a year ago I got a Great Dane puppy. She is sooo sweet. She’s a mantle (black with white on all 4 paws and her chest) and is almost full grown now (huge!) but still has to fill out. her name is pee wee (like pee wee football because its adorable. not pee wee herman. creep.) they’re amazing and so worth it, but be careful, if you live in an apartment its REALLY hard. THEY do fine space wise, but you on the other hand won’t get much done at all. and whenever your neighbors come home they think someone is breaking in. and when they chew the destroy. once they hit about 2 or so they’re supposed to be all free of puppy behavior, but just a warning, they will be full sized before they quit. and its hard to stop those monsters. if you get a puppy seriously pick a reputable breeder. we got a great breeder about 2 hours from where i live and pick of the litter (she was the biggest, when born: 12 pounds, 9 ounces.) and even got half price because the breeder’s daughter was going to have a baby. some are really sketchy though and you have to watch out. be sure to check their legs and stuff. anwyways, its totally worth it when you can offer them the right home and enough attention and time… they’re amazing creatures. a lot of children cry at our presence when we go on walks though.
