I have booked the Lord of the Rings tour in late 2010. My plan is to work for about one year and live with a friend who is also planning to arrive at the same time.

How I did it: I have a friend who lives there. I booked the flight 10 weeks before I was going to go. I wanted to stay for 6 months so I estimated the amount of money I would need to pay off bills in advance. I worked 3 jobs, saved and prepaid car payments, insurance etc... and *poof* off I went.
It was GREAT! People there are so friendly. So many strangers offered their homes to crash at during travel!

We’re here!! So far so good, and it’s also helping me to achieve goal number 3 – to smile more!! I suppose even if we left tomorrow, I could still say I’ve done this sooooooo I shall declare this goal done!!!!

seems like my kind of place. I’ve talked to my wife about possibly retiring to New Zealand….. which means this will be one of my “things” for a long, long time.

i visited new zealand last nov. and i loved it so much
the only reason i wanted to come back home was so i could get to my bank account :)
i really want to live there. i guess if i had to pick which city, it’d either be auckland or christchurch (both on the oppisite sides of the country i know :P)
i’m not really sure what i could do when i move there. i want to be an archeologist, and new zealand is a pretty new country (if you only count the european settlers that is)
but we’ll see. i loved the air of new zealand and how everyone was :)

A while back, I was watching a documetary on this beautiful country. Something about the isolation and serenity of it all…I realized how long it had been since I had seen a sunset, climbed a tree, or even went skinny dipping. It seems like a much more simple world than the one around me.I want my children to grow up in a place that is peaceful and hidden away from all the things we see around us now.
