An interview. 5 months ago

I recieved a letter today to call and schedule a preliminary interview with Washington County Sherrif’s office. I have scheduled my interview for June 4th. Now I need to prep myself for the specifics of the WashingtonCounty interview.

To update from last time-I did well on the Written exam for Tigard PD on May 2nd. I have not recieved the scores back yet, but I know I did well. I have not gotten anything less than 95% on any tests I have taken so far. I felt good about the Tigard test.

Washington County ORPAT result. 4/29/09 6 months ago

The ORPAT (Oregon Physical Agility test) was modified for this department. Normally, one element of the ORPAT is a Push/Pull machine. This machine simulates your ability to push/Pull and control 80lbs of force.

The reasoning they gave for it’s ommission was that it was failing too many of the female applicants. In a regular ORPAT your time on the course ends and is recorded after the Push/Pull machine and then you do a dummy drag that isn’t included in the time.

With the ommision of the Push/Pull the time stops after the dummy drag.

In any case I passed today wih a time of 3min 40sec. I think that taking out the Push/Pull machine saved me about 40 seconds.

So far Washington County Sherrif is the only department that has ommitted this part of the ORPAT.

As of today 4/29/09 I have applied for 4 different Police Departments with One more in July. 6 months ago

I. Hillsboro PD- doing my background check
-Test scores: Math 100%, Reading 96%, Grammar 95%, Writing 100%
Agility test final time 4min 36sec (need less than 5:30 to pass)
-I’ve had my oral interview as well as command staff interview

II. WA County Sherrif- Passed Written exam, doing agility test today
Written test scores: Math 95%, Reading 96%, Grammar 90%, Writing 98% (didn’t study for this test since I did well the last time, probably a mistake. I will study/practice again for next test)

V. Portland PD- Taking written exam next hiring session in July

Being the best that I can be!!! 7 months ago

I would like to complete my GED and then move on to becoming a police officer and making a difference in the community that I am a part of. Minimizing the crime that makes people scared and pay higher taxes, so that people can sleep better at night knowing that there are others out there that care and try to make that difference.

So I had the brilliant idea of joinging the Army, which looking back was not the smartest idea for my plan. See I joined at 17 and of course you have to be 21 to be a cop. So I decided I would be in the Army as military police, which the whole year and a hlaf I have been in I have done all of 3 months of law enforcement. I have a lot of training and knowledge that will make being a cop a joke. Pretty much with my time left after training for an upcoming deployment and deploying when I come back I might be lucky enough to work another 3-6 months months. But I guess the perks are I have some experience and a hell of a lot of training.

I have been wanting to become a Police Officer for as long as I can remember. My plan was to quit smoking by the end of 2008 and start getting in shape and apply for the force at the end of 2009. Well I am about 6 months ahead of goal with the smoking. I have started running about 4-5 times a week to get in shape for the exam. I plan to start taking classes in Jan for Law Enforcement Technology.
