"Playing with legos is risky business"
How I did it: My mom and grandma brought me along to a church event, and I was put in the nursery with one of my older friends to help watch the younger kids. I think I was 10, I can't remember.
Later in the evening, a friend of mine who was the same age as me came to the nursery and we were messing around. We decided to stack up the giant legos as high as we could and then stand on top of them like stilts. So...I stood on mine, and it was pretty cool for like...10 seconds, then I fell and cracked the middle of my right arm on the lego box! I remember my arm feeling REALLY weird, and I started laughing histerically, then all of a sudden, the pain set it. I went to my mom, and told her I fell off a chair and hit it, because I didn't want to get in trouble for standing on legos. She told me I was fine, and put ice on it. My grandma told my mom it was broken, but she didn't believe her 'cause I said I had only fallen off a chair, and that wasn't enough to break my arm.
So...a week later, I was at work with my dad and I had been babying my arm all day, and that whole week, so he finally took me to the doctor. They did an x-ray, and sure enough, my arm was broken! I got a full arm cast. It was purple with sparkles on it. This all happened during Christmas break, so I ended up going back to school with a broken arm, and I had to have my friend write all school work for me 'cause I'm right handed. My mom ended up doing my homework for me too!
I had the cast on for a pretty long time, and when I finally got it off, my elbow was so stiff from the cast that it took about 2 weeks to get back to normal. Even after I had the cast off, I had to wear a brace around the middle of arm where it was broken. And the doctor told me that it'll never fully heal. To this very day my arm hurts where it broke every now and then.
Lessons & tips: If you really want to break a bone, be prepared to be stuck in a cast for at least 3 months! You can't get it wet either, so showering becomes a problem. I had to wear a plastic bag around my arm whenever I took a bath or shower. Also, make sure you don't do it around summer time if you enjoy swimming or going to the beach!
