itsnotperfefkt is writing. Finally.
Technically I need to do this.
NEED.
NEED NEED NEED.
My writing is dying. D: Not good not good not good not good.T_T
How I did it: One day, I had a song stuck in my head and thought, "I can use this in my ... story." I just picked up a notebook, out of my many wire-bound notebooks, and a pen or two and took them to Books-A-Million. I do most of my writing in longhand and all that requires is a place to write, paper and a pen. It was a "spur of the moment" thing, but I wrote for over an hour!
Books-A-Million does have an in-store coffee shop, but that's not why I wanted to write there. I loved the idea of having thousands, maybe millions of books around me as I wrote.
I had been to the library before this, but they don't allow food or drinks. I had also tried writing in a restaurant or two and had even written on picnic tables at parks. I like Books-A-Million much better. They allow me to have a soda and even food if I want; it's quite most of the time, and the chairs are comfortable to semi-comfortable.
Lessons & tips: Don't wait until you "have" time. You have to MAKE time! Whether you do it on a 'spur of the moment' or schedule "writing time" on three different calendars, "Just Do It" to quote Nike.
Your writing spot doesn't have to be a coffee shop, a library OR a bookstore. Just find a comfortable seat and enough room for your notebook(s), journal(s) and/or Laptop and Start Writing.

Dave is back to business
So I did this today. Laurie’s Muffin Korner in Westbrook, CT
www.roadfood.com/Reviews/Writeup.aspx?ReviewID=1161&RefID=1161
I brought my journal from 20 years ago, and my current journal, and took turns reading about my life in the 1980’s and writing about my life in the year 2007.
This is a really good idea. It gets the creative juices flowing, to be in a low-stress, public environment with good chairs and lots of other unrushed people. I recommend this for all writers, especially where you are having trouble kick-starting the journal entries.
:)
Actually, I’ve done this, like, a month ago… I just didn’t realize at the time that I was accomplishing a goal ;)
Nevertheless (and perhaps even more so?), it was a wonderful experience that I definitely want to enjoy again. Just sitting with my notepad, papers and pen – and of course, coffee – and writing away… occasionally looking up and watching people on the street. It’s so quiet and peaceful and you hear nothing but random chatter and your own thoughts.
Everyone should try it at least once…

so i’m going to give up on this for now
taking on TO is dealing with changes!
i haven’t done this at all since i’ve been back although i’ve been exploring my area a bit more to try and find places i’d like to spend time in!
The keyword being “time”. So as soon as I get some of that – accomplishing this goal will definitely be on the top of the list… since I really got to finish my script (another goal), as well as spend some quality time with myself. =)
Oh, and a cup of good coffee sounds great, too!
(BTW, the picture’s from “Coffee and Cigarettes”, which is a great movie.)

but i drove around trying to find a restaurant in little italy that i could go to so one evening this week, that’s the plan!
maybe tuesday i’ll do the walk and coffee/writing thing…
taking on TO is dealing with changes!
and write to some of my friends back in france. it will allow me to stay in tough with friends, have time on my own and allow me to practice my friends :) all important things!

so that i can have a break from the B&B and speak french which i don’t do here since mum speaks only english…
i’m a bit nervous because i’m so shy and it seems silly to go out on my own and just chat but hey…gotta start somewhere!
