How I did it: I baked it real nice. Oh, how HOW? The internet told me how, which was just as well because I certainly wasn't going to learn from my mother. I came up with white peaches and raspberries but then I googled it and it already was in pie existence (sigh). But nevertheless, it was mildly original. ANYWAYS, I read a bunch of recipes online and got the basic idea for pie. Then I went Krogering (the happy way to shop) and stocked up on berries, starch, something?, SALTED butter ( i walked to and from the butter section about 10 times. to salt or unsalt that was the damn question). So then, after a few hours not including the research, a pie was concoted and the kitchen counter was lost beneath the flour and berry juice. And out came an organic spiced white peach and raspberry pie with a butter flake crust. But hey, the result was one gnarly delicious trendy sounding pie. Congrats to me. How I did it: I looked in a cookbook I had and I followed the instructions :-) Seriously though, the first time you try something like this, many things may go wrong -- the crust burns before the center is cooked through (try wrapping the crust edge with foil or trimming it down to begin with), the bottom crust sticks to the pan (always grease the pan well before use and do NOT be a lazy butt and press the dough into the pan, roll it out first like a g… Read how I did it…

How I did it: I made an apple pie that had a homemade crust underneath, but a crumble crust on top. It was easier because I only needed to make one "real" crust. Everyone thought it was delicious! Read how I did it…

How I did it: It just took patience and a lot of arm strength to work the dough. I made an apple pie, and I added brown sugar and water/lemon juice to the apples. I didn't add any butter to the filling, and it tasted really good despite (I accidentally left it out, I admit it) The dough was tricky, and I had to roll it out a few times to get it the right thickness and size. I was contemplating a blackberry peach pie but damnit blackberries are expensive. I settled on organic white peaches and raspberries. I believe I overdosed the fruit mixture on sugar. The crust looks moderately successful. In 15 min I’ll roll the dough, fit it in the pan, pour in the mixture, then bake that bitch. And oh yes, I’m going to try my luck at that lattice thing.

Very simple, I want to be able to make a decent pie and pie crust from scratch.
I baked my first pie (mixed berry) in March, and have since made about 5 or 6 more. As long as I have a good three hours to make it, I usually start from scratch, which can be stressful at times, but is always worth it!

under the sun except a pie! Recently I have started baking bread, and I have cooked cookies and cakes. I just need to bake a pie! Shepherds pie doesnt count cause its not pastry. I think its the pastry thats giving me the mental block. We will see, at least I have a pie tin now. I might do a cop out and bake an apple (or sweet) pie
Cunningly I waited for the season to end, so there were no fresh blueberries in the store! I had to buy a tub of frozen ones, but that worked out.
I used:
“Baking Illustrated: A Best Recipe Classic”
for the recipe. I actually cut out some of the time consuming parts (leave the dough in the fridge, and leave the pie to cool down for 45 minutes) because I started making it about 4pm and we were too hungry to wait any longer once it came out of the over.
It turned out really nice, especially the pastry.
Soon I will make a peach pie, as my son didn’t like the blueberries.
to welcome fall in. single-crust dough, from scratch. i used a recipe that involved evaporated milk. i also made some real whipped cream to go on it D:

I love pie… I used to ask for it rather then birthday cake. My favorite to make is a mixed berry apple pie… especially if the berries are just picked. MMMMM….. next up is to try strawberry rhubarb… I just know I’d love it.
