I used to live there and misses it, so I need to get transfered back there.

How I did it: I started by asking for a transfer from work. Company policy was that if you worked there for 1 year, you could transfer within the company. When my year was up, I started researching other options in the company. I spoke with HR and they were willing to let me keep my job and work out of the New York office.
Lessons & tips: Speak up for what you want. You may not always get it but you will never get it, if you don't ask at all.

Well, after living in DC for two years, I’m done. I’m moving back to NY on the 27th, and I couldn’t be happier about that. It’s where I belong.
There is no place like New York.
