"To love and be loved. "
How I did it: I found out that I had a work trip in Florida so I planned to fly in a little early to visit the most wonderful lady in the world.... my Grandma : )
When I think of the word resilient, I think of her.
Throughout my life, I've admired her. She is the woman with an expression for everything: 1) "Let a horse worry about it, it's got a bigger head" 2) "Don't stop moving because they'll throw dirt on her" 3) "Always have something to look forward to and to look back on" 4) "If you can go over the bridge, go under the bridge. If you can't go under the bridge, go around the bridge. If you can't go around the bridge, dig a tunnel" ... and the list could go on and on of little pearls she has presented me with over the years : ) : )
Grandma is now 88. She has lost one of her legs from the knee down because of a vein occulsion. But believe it or not, she still drives! She gets in her wheel chair, wheels down in the elevator. Pulls herself out of the wheelchair and standing on one leg, folds it up and throws it in the back seat of the car! She's gone through muslitple surgeries but yet she EVER gives up... she never gives in.
I am inspired by her diligence and drive. Her determination to live a good life is to be commended. She said about her circumstances... "better days are coming".... how many people would have thrown in the towel.... I look at her and think to myself... could I be that strong? Could I be that determined? Through her example, I think I can be.... from now on.
I am lucky to have a member of the family of whom I can model my life after. I love grandma.... This goal... I must make a more regular occurance. : )
Lessons & tips: Book it and go... life is too short!
