    geogal is on a roll!

    i'm really 8 months ago

    kind of done with this for right now. i had a great traveling year in 2007. but finances have kept me closer to home since then and i’m perfectly o.k with that right now. i’ve gotten a few trips in to colorado, but that’s it. i’ve traveled at least two weekends out of each month mainly to eastern TN and western NC. so, i’m not going to far away places, but i am going to places i love and that’s the most important thing.

    i’m marking this as done now.

    2007 recap 2 years ago

    Wow, I had a great time traveling in 2007. I don’t think I’ll be able to travel quite as much in 2008, but I have a few trips planned. Here’s a quick 2007 recap:
    -I went to Joshua Tree and Death Valley in January
    -I went to the Bahamas and sailing in the FL Keys in March
    -I went to Idaho in August; and spent a few days in Denver along the way
    -I participated in the Breast Cancer 3-Day in Dallas in October.

    I loved it all (o.k. not so much Dallas, but I feel rude for knocking Dallas (and Texas in general), but not so rude that I plan on returning-doh!).

    On the horizon for 2008:
    -another trip to Death Valley and maybe Owens Valley??
    -a sailing trip in the Bahamas
    -canyonlands????
    I’m working on a much tighter budget, but I’m sure I’ll be able to fit in a couple of good trips. I’m going to try to do some more local hiking, backpacking , and paddling to save money.

    Idaho 2 years ago

    I’m going to go backpacking/camping/sightseeing in Idaho in a month. I’m flying in to Denver to meet a girlfriend, then we are taking off on a roadtrip from there. It’s a much, much needed vacation. I’ve never been to Idaho. I’ve been reading up on the places that we plan on visiting (mainly the Sawtooth National Forest) and I think I’m in for a real treat!

    After that, I don’t have anything planned until October. I’m heading to Dallas in October to participate in the Breast Cancer 3-Day walk with some friends. It’ll be nice to be able to mark Texas off of my list of visited places.

    ~~~~~~~~~~ sailing....~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2 years ago
    I had a wonderful time on my sailing trip. Too wonderful, actually. Because of some troublesome wind patterns, we ended up sailing in the Keys as opposed to the Bahamas. It worked out just fine though.
    I had never been sailing before, but am now completely enamored by it. I don’t think I’ve ever been so relaxed in my whole life. I was a bit worried about the trip because I’m a self-proclaimed mountain girl and have never really spent any time at all in the ocean. I can safely say though, that I’m now a lover of both the mountains and the sea. To be so distinctly different, they are so similar.
    I loved depending on the wind to get places. I loved the color of the water and that of the sky. I love the feeling of freedom that I had and the calmness that I felt (for the first time in a long, long time). I loved snorkeling—and being introduced to a whole new world. Most importantly, I loved feeling completely insignificant….........................
    2007 pretty good so far 2 years ago
    I went to southern California and Nevada in January (Joshua Tree National Park and Death Valley National Patk).Wonderful Trip!
    I’m going on a sailing trip in the Bahamas in a couple of weeks to see the modern carbonate factory (with a group from the university). We will be sleeping on the sailboat and we’ll visit mostly uninhabited islands; it should be really nice.
    In July, we had planned on a trip to Oregon, but I’m not sure if this is going to happen. We’ll go somewhere, but it may have to be closer to home. Or if my SO (significant other) can’t go (he’s starting a new job and moving), I may just visit a girlfriend in Colorado.
    Not too shabby, but I always long for more!
