Finish a novel 4 weeks ago

I have started countless would-be novels, but never, ever finished one. I’d love to one day have one of my works published.

It's a long time coming 2 months ago

I’m only 17, but all I want to do is write. Every day I have more and more ideas for screenplays, books, songs – even fanfictions! – but no matter how good I start, I can’t seem to keep going. My attention span is erratic, and the ability to get my hand to move is even more so. It’s like… I know where I’m going, I just don’t have the money to buy the ticket.
But I am getting it done, slowly but surely. I still have plenty of years left to write, and plenty more to learn on how to do it well. One of these days, I will get on that train, and I will take it full speed all the way to the end:)

The plan... 3 months ago

I finally found an idea that I feel is worth finishing. I’ve outlined most of the first half of the book and I plan on starting it in November for NaNoWriMo. That way I’ll have plenty of time before hand to prepare all of my ideas and get them in order so it’ll be easy to follow once I actually start writing.

I have the structure of a science fiction novel all planned out, but very little written. It’s an odd way to go about it, I know.

I want to finish this sometime before I go senile. I’m hoping I have another 40 years or so.

There’s so much research to be done!

I’m just kidding about the 40 years, but I wouldn’t doubt it could take me ten.

... Because I've started plenty 11 months ago

I like to write. Anybody who would bother to take the time to go to my profile and realize that I’ve written 23 entries in three days after joining the sight can see that. I like to write, I write often, and I’d like to think I’m pretty good at it, too.

Somehow though, I always end up starting stories – never finishing them.

My goal is to some day finish just one novel. I’m taking the Writing Fiction II class next quarter so hopefully I can get a lot more written on my project for that class. Well, unfortunately I’m not totally enthusiastic about that project but it’s probably my best bet when it comes to finishing one of my stories.

If anybody’s curious my fictionpress.com account is here: http://www.fictionpress.com/~thequeenofevil

Those are only a few that I’ve put up. Just some of the better ones. I have tons more. Also a couple are kind of old and I’ve improved a lot since then. But I do hope somebody checks my stories out.

I’m in a novel class this semester. Unfortunately, I’m also taking three other really hard classes and I’m working full-time, so it’s been a little difficult to focus on it. The goal is 50,000 words, though, and I’m currently at 35,000. It’s due in less than a week. Jesus Christ.

giving it a go 15 months ago

I have six chapters and a complete outline finished. I quit my high paying Software Engineering job (I’m a Computer Scientist) in Bellevue, WA in order to free up some time to meet my goal. I’ve farmed out my six chapters to anyone who will read them and relish in their support (I put off their constructive criticism for a later date). I tell myself that I don’t care if I ever get my story published because I just want to finish it. Also that it doesn’t have to be perfect because it’s just a first draft. I hope my plan works.

I’m afraid of putting so much effort into something and then nothing comes of it and then I get blocked. I start something, outline, get about 10,000 words in and then stop. It’s happened three times now.

Finding the Period to the...uhh..... 19 months ago

Like most aspiring writers, politicians, and old people with a large monkey on their backs, writing a novel can be key in draining your brain of all the rich goo.

But, it takes time. So get off my back!

Acctually, I have a publisher looking at one idea that I have pitched to them….[suckers!]....but I will get it done.

Four and a half pages! 21 months ago

I’ve been stuck in a middle of the book rut for some time. I keep jumping to other novels I’ve begun because I can’t get over this hump. But today, I went for it! I finished four and a half pages. I love when I get fresh ideas. They keep me going for quite a while.
