I have a lot of great ideas for an outdoors/hiking/climbing-themed site and app, and I just need to get down to it and implement the thing. 13 months ago

How I did it: I just went ahead and reserved the domain name from Namecheap (a friend suggested it). Then I learned as much HTML5, CSS, PHP, and Javascript, as I could and made a rough website that generates random words. To test it out, I downloaded WAMP (which comes with PHP), so I could test the contact form and everything else on my local host. After being satisfied with what I've made so far, I bought the value hosting package from Namecheap (didn't want to deal with domain transfer) then tried to find my way through Cpanel for the first time and uploaded the files (I could have used an FTP like FileZilla, but since I already had Cpanel, I might as well use that).
I learned and made everything in about 3 days. Now I'm pretty addicted to web development and I'm already started on several more web projects :D And I just added multiple languages to my word generator website, which was pretty crazy, but worth it: http://somerandomwords.com/ Read how I did it… 12 months ago
