spend New Year's in an exotic location

Does Oshawa, Ontario, count?... No, I guess not.

“Exotic” is different to everyone. I live in Miami, a short drive from the beach. To me, that’s not exotic. The keys aren’t even that exotic. So I spent New Year’s in Puerto Viejo (Limon), in Costa Rica. It’s on the caribbean coast. My gf and I hung out at a club on the beach, got fireworks fallout in our eyes and hair, and had an absolute blast. It was my best new year’s ever.

Just remember, the location is the goal. Beyond that, don’t set your expectations so high that they can’t be easily reached. We were somewhere different, we didn’t get robbed, and we had a decent drink. And we were together. That’s all we needed.

That said, it’s a damn good thing we made reservations well in advance, or it never would’ve worked. EVERY place was booked solid. Plan well in advance, and have a great time.

Not happening this year.. ohh well.. maybe next!
