A beautiful interpretation of one of my most favorite childhood stories. I was moved beyond words at some points, laughing like a hyena at others, and quietly crying like a kid again at the end of the movie, just like I did as a kid, reading the book.

Paul posing, about 30 seconds before 25 people walked in. :)

Wonderful. All 3 of us loved it. This was Isak’s first movie at a theater, although we’ve had one family trip to a drive-in (for Speed Racer) and two “under the stars” showings (The Wizard of Oz and Up). This was a lovely initiation. Popcorn and cokes and a favorite childhood story (for all of us) splashed onto the screen. And magic at the end – everyone in the theater started howling. Big thumbs up.

Isak’s slightly withering leaf friend (from the previous photo I posted) joined us at the theater. We didn’t even have to buy an extra ticket.

This was one of my favorite books as a wee one and I can’t wait to see it in theaters. I’m not sure who I want to see it with first though… Once I decide that I will definitely be going.

    Where The Wild Things Are…

I’ve been looking forward to this, SO much, for so many reasons. I’m hoping we can catch a matinee tomorrow.

    ok ok ok…

I’ve avoided looking at or reading anything about WHERE THE WILD THINGS are for a week or two… I’m going tonight at 7 with one of my very dear friends I haven’t seen in years. When the preview came out, he was the first person to send it to me saying “Fuzzy (my nickname) this reminded me so of you, and you need to see it.” Every time I saw the preview I almost made myself sick because I cried so much. I am a preschool teacher, I’ve taken some time off for the twins, but in my heart I will always be a teacher… children are my heart… truly. And not only did I just eat this book up growing up, I think I read it at least once a week to my kids… Man, you have NO IDEA how excited I am. No Idea…. you know, sometimes it’s like someone reached into your heart, your soul… and made a movie, wrote a book, or sung a song… and you are just standing there amazed, bewitched, saying, “That me… right there, that’s my soul, my heart.. that’s me.” I have a feeling that’s going to happen tonight.

    breathe breathe breathe…
