Knowing CSS helps a lot, and while xanga’s interface helps you customize your site more thoroughly than before, a little more customization can’t hurt, right? Once you get the basics down, they become second nature and maybe you could even move on to more advanced stuff, like div overlays. =]

I myself learned primarily though studying other people’s codes and picking out what codes had what function and such. Make sure that if you do this, though, that you don’t steal codes. Some sites have style sheets laid out that you can customize and study yourself if you want to learn! 5 years ago

It helps if you have a background of CSS. When I started I knew a little CSS but mostly all I knew about was HTML. That helped too. I say, get some background information about the code and then take a look at other’s layouts. See what makes them good…or bad. If you need to, take a really good layout and edit font sizes, colors, pictures, etc. to get exactly what you want until you can do it by yourself. 6 years ago

i’m not incredibly savvy with HTML, but i scraped together enough information from two different layouts and managed to put them together into one thing. it was a lot more work than it seemed like it was going to be, but once you started to understand what was going on, you could fumble around with the numbers and letters until everything looks..well, cute. http://www.xanga.com/xmisskairix. that’s my work right there. i know it’s not perfect, but eh, it gives me a mediocre sense of being smart. and nerdy. 6 years ago
