Provide lots of fun and welcome interruptions for Niel as he celebrates the BIG 40 on September 20th

You know I’ve been hanging around TG too long when I post birthday wishes a month after the date. :( I’m so sorry, Niel. Hope your birthday was fun and full of welcome interruptions like these scantily-clad beach volleyball cheerleaders with big pom-poms.

Niel said some really nice things to me a couple years ago when I turned 40 here on 43Things. I of course keep mistyping his name by flipping the vowels and I kick myself each time as he deserves so much better from me. He’s an important part of 43Things whether he recognizes it or not. He’s been here and active as long as I have been. While he’s not been as prolific with cheers, he’s accomplished important goals in his life and made some excellent friends along the way. And isn’t friendship truly the measure of a man? So as he enters this new chapter of his life, I can truly say that he’s been rewarded with much success. Here are my wishes for him for the coming year:

May he put the time he needs to into planning, then stick to the schedule (or unschedule) so that next time he isn’t scraping his celebration plans like he’s had to do with celebrating the 40th with the 5th. May he continue to make his health a priority, stretching every day so that he may eventually touch the floor with his hands while standing up (and possibly doing another triathlon.) And may he make the time to declutter 15 minutes every day so that he may eventually live in a tidy, spacious environment.

Niel, you have turned the corner into a wonderful decade. Enjoy it to the fullest—& happy birthday!

I hope you have a most lovely, and poky year! One of my nicest gifts for the year was getting to spend one of the coldest days of the year with you.:) It totally warmed my heart.
