practice drawing

I had to sketch what goes on in my brain and I got a lot of compliments afterwards.

I took a class sometime ago, but I’ve been meaning to keep at it. Those DVDs from alienthink.com might help with anatomy.

I want to work my way through Drawing on the Right side of the Brain., keep a sketchbook, and develop a portfolio.

It takes lots of time to add texture details.

I was walking through campus after class yesterday and found a little zen garden. I sat down and sketched it for about 10 minutes. I think its hard to get the textures right with only one pencil. It sounded wonderful and there were lotus blooming in the pond. There was bamboo there so I got a little practice in. A couple of students walked by and one of them stopped and noticed the place and stayed a while too.

there is a wonderful breezeway in the art building. There is tall bamboo and wonderful light. I’ll start there.

never satisfied with what i create though.

i haven’t drawn anything very complex in the longest time.
but yesterday i went to the mall and sat there in the middle of the floor listening to my ipod. (yes, i do this everywhere)
then a guy about my age walks up to me and asks what type of music i listen to. engaged in conversation, we moved on to the subject of art. he draws. i draw.
it was pretty fantastic.
we talked about our styles- me more into the imaginative and portraits. he- more into morbid and “wat if” situations. he said we had to meet up again and exchange drawings.
we’re meeting next weekend.
and in order to give him something good, i drew a picture of a musician we both love- Jim Morrison.
it turned out really good actually.
i’m pretty excited what he comes up with.

I was painting with my grandchildren today. I discovered that when you put the paint on and its all watery, it changes. A little while later, it has lines where you didn’t expect them. You have to have faith when you use watercolor. So I let the children paint in my journal.

I drew ears last night. Looked at magazines. Pencils will probably work better than the ball point pen. Shading.

I need to do well in my gcse art, i am trying to do good pieces of work but i dont feel i am very good at it and wont get good marks so i need to practice a lot. I will upload some pics of my art on here soon so people can comment on them.
