the good and the bad 5 days ago

the good – i have managed to cut down mt emails to 12986!!! getting there slowly.

the bad, in the midst of all this sorting and deleting emails i came accross emails from my ex bf.and i read some of them. i havent found all of them as these are emails spanning 3 years from right in the beginning when we met. anyway so i read a few of the last emails we sent each other from when we were in the weird stage and were in the midst of breaking up but still dating (dont ask). just reading the emails made me sad. there were some that were so loving and romantic, and where we were trying to work things out, and apologising for things that happened etc… and then there were some that were absolutely awful, painful to read. where we absolutely hated each other, swore at each other etc. some emails that started off well with good intentions etc, and then after a few replys back and forth ended up with anger and hate and swearing. its sad to see them and read them. its hard, seeing these emails my ex used to send, so loving the one minute and the next minute telling me why i am so this and that and hopeless and picking out all my faults and what i did wrong in the relationship and this and that, and swearign at me. its crap. it jsut brought back some memories of the past.

and it made me realise i am better off with out that man, he was too tempermental, could do no wrong, i was to blame for everything etc blah blah. funnily enough i deleted everything in my life that reminded me of him, even on here (deleted most posts bout the relationship), but when i was going through some of these emails today, i couldnt bring my self to delete them. not sure why. and if u read some of them u would think i was nuts to keep them, how hurtful they are from him to me, and me to him. i think i want to keep it as a reminder of how bad things got, and to never be involved with someone like that again. i am pretty much over the guy, think about him occasionally but will never go back. someday maybe in 6 months or so i might delete them all. just not yet.

from 27500 unread emails to 15458 and counting 1 week ago

this was originally posted as a entry under my be more organised goal but after adding the entry i decided to add this as a goal…

i have been re-organising my emails. creating and sorting the ones i wanted to keep into folders. and all the other deleting them and trust me its a big job. its been about 4 days that i have been doing this and im only about half way through.

because i used to subscibe to a lot of email newsletter subscriptions for everything under the sun over the last 5 years, that i ended up having wait for it…
over 27500 unread emails!!!! so i have been sifting through, re-orgainisng, moving into folders, unsubscribing subscriptions and deleting like mad!!!! im currently on 15458 unread emails. so getting there slowly. i think im going to add this as a goal to my 43 things list actually. to bring the number to say nil or under 10 each day and then to stay on top of it

Hey There 20 months ago

Lets go fishin

Zero! 2 years ago

OMG, after trying for years to mange my e-mail inbox, I finally got it down to ZERO! Yes, that is 0 emails as of 11:24 p.m. on May 28, 2007! I started out with nearly 500 unread e-mails a few hours ago, then I got the bright idea to set up folders. I have no idea why that made a difference, but somehow it did. First, I set up folders for each category, then I established rules for each e-mail type. After that I was able to flip through them, save the important ones, and read and delete the rest! I never thought I would see this day! I thought for sure I was going to have to blind nuke them. Ha, the real test will be to see if I can do the same at work….

I give up. This is impossible. I’ll never be able to catch up on my e-mails unless somehow I get the courage to “select all,” close my eyes and hit delete.

well maybe not mastery 3 years ago

but i do take care to manage my email inbox.

I’ll close this one and focus on working less hours.

Small number of emails in inbox=true happiness 3 years ago

My magic number is 10. I try to always get it down to 10 or less before the end of each day. This one change has made a tremendous difference to me because I am less stressed out by my email and I don’t always feel behind.
Wonderful!
