How I did it: Ok ok, I draw well enough for the goals I want to pursue. Granted I will almost certainly take more art classes in the future and continue to improve, but I don't need this to be an additional goal right now. Read how I did it…

I haven“t drawn in months. By the middle of Feb. I will go on vacation with my Mum and will start there. It is realistic!

Lately I’ve been trying to specialize in one thing at a time; I just finished spending some time on horses, and I think it went pretty well. Now I want to choose something else to work on, but I’m not sure what just yet—perhaps facial expressions? That could certainly use some work…
The best way to do this, in my opinion, is to start a webcomic. I am a webcomic fanatic, and there are more than sixteen that I follow regularly. It’s really interesting, though, when you find a new one with fantastic art on the most recent page, but terrible art on the first. It’s fun watching the person’s skill increase at each page. This is because if you put a weekly/daily/tri-weekly/etc… deadline for drawing, it will force you to practice more. Now all I need to do is ACTUALLY START the great comic idea I have.
So, I found this great website. It is called pose maniacs and the idea behind it is that you can set a timer, a pose comes up on the screen and you have that long to draw the pose. I have heard from people who I respect as artists that the 30 second drawing is the best thing you can do to get good at sketching. The website suggests 10 a day (that is only 5 minutes). I am still doing it on the computer as I like using the computer for all sorts of things and I need to get better at the tablet. So, here are my first sketches… I will keep at this I hope. On a side note, the poses are quite interesting because the posee does not have any skin, so you get to see the muscles and the lines of the muscles which helps with getting the line of the motion.
recommended I take a shot at hands. My anatomy book is missing, as is my sketch book, so I tried out sketching on my digital tablet, using a real live hand model-me. It made the undo button difficult, but otherwise, no problems. I have successfully, and unsuccessfully sketched my hand….

... re-start practicing! Copying Pericoli“s portraits will be a good re-launch.
I also want to visit exhibitions more often. Last time I was in an art exhibit: the female impressionists in Frankfurt back in late March, which were so enjoyable. Visiting museums and seeing art is a good training as well.
everytime i have a paper and a pencil and start drawing i see that my drawing skills are improving. i just need to have patience and time to spend, then my drawings looks good.
but i think i can improve even more!
